Hi All

Just moved my van onto the drive this morning so that I don't have to reverse it through the gate when i get home tonight in the dark. The steering felt really heavy. Didn't have time to look into it before leaving for work, does anybody know whether on a 57 transit is the pump electric or belt driven? Just to help find the cause of the problem when I get home tonight.

Thanks all

Had a problem with my 57 transit steering last year. The drive belt had worn a small hole in the steering fluid pipe behind offside front wheel and the fluid was leaking out. Ford fixed it under warranty. Although Ford denied it was a common problem the RAC said it was common. Ford slightly re-routed the pipe so it doesn't happen again. Worth checking the pipe and see if fluid is dripping. It was only a tiny hole.
Cheers

Thanks Henry, did turn out to be a pipe, although not one close to the pulleys. Luckily just scraped it in within warranty.

Thanks again.
