Lets think about what we want first,

Do we want a quiet site (with hard standings) where we bring a tent/marquee, heat it somehow, and make our own entertainment?

Do we want a site like a Haven one with loads of others on site and use the bar for a party, and watch the pre-booked Showaddywaddy tribute band?

Should we find a country pub with a massive carpark?

Any other choice?

If we decide what we want it will make finding a venue a little easier.

Last year we all went to Brandy Wharf. The original idea was a marquee and a barrell of beer. Unfortunately on the day it all went pear shaped cos the weather was so bad we couldn't put the marquee up!

Luckily there was a pub who very nicely allowed us to take all our food ect., over there.

I only mention this because we have to be prepared!

My choice would always be a site where we can do our own thing, tent or something.

A site with a pub or barn.

Marquees a bad idea at this time of year.

Hi Suzy

My ideal would be a site with a pub or club on site/or within few hundred feet!
Or a large carpark of a pub or restaurant.
I think a marquee etc is great when the weather is warmer, but too much can go wrong in colder winds.

The one thing we don't have is time on our side unfortunately, so as jimjam says, lets quickly decide exactly what we want, who would be interested (might make a load of difference to venue) and then lets get the booking made

I have asked around other forum.

Sherwood forest apparently fits the bill.

What about top end? It has quite a large bit of hardstanding and a barn.

I had thought of that but unsure about the hardstanding.

Nice one Shane:winky:

Thanks John.
I'm hoping Suzy sees the above links and has a look to see if they could take us, what's on, and whether anyone is interested. (Rumour has it she is celebrating England's win with a very large Voddie Ice!).

Got this set of suggestion's

Worth a look at:-

Wildrose Cumbria

The Trotting Mare Wrexham

Wyreside Lancashire

Grouse & Claret, Nr. Bakewell/Matlock

Cressfield Near Lockerbie Dumfries and Galloway

All the above have hard standing and a pub/bar on or just off the site, all are on our meets list for more details

Think the best by far would be Wildrose but as with all the sites and particularly this one I would think they may be booked up. Your best bet if its open although it's not central could be Cressfield Near Lockerbie Dumfries and Galloway. Not even a mile off the motorway so access is good, sure they would fit you in and the pub is just off the site serves good food and may be willing to put you a party on, think you could get a good deal there if it's not to far North for you

 I've been there. It is a country park type camp site. They DO have barns as I recall. But I don't think they have a bar? Unless of course they have had one built since then?

No room at the inn!

I phoned Hollyfast this morning and they are fully booked.

They have a rally booked in that have been there every year for the last 6 years and they would not allow another group (club, rally or just friends) to pitch at the same time.

Shame cos it looked a good site!

Keep the suggestions coming I will check them all out for availability!

Hi

My parents just to spend New Year every year at Seawick Caravan site at St Osyth at a caravan club rally. I think Jim suggested a Haven site earlier, might be worth considering, they must have them in central places

Hi Suzy

I guess you are going to have to make quite a few phone calls to sort this one out.
Do you know how many are interested yet?

We are. You are. Anyone else?

What about the site in Coventry that RR suggested?
