Pondering on whether to go for the Robotic Quickshift6 when we get around to ordering our new MH

Just wondering if anyone has the Quickshift6 box on here?

How do you get on with the gearbox?
Is it smooth?
Have you had any reliability issues?

They are expensive if they go pop.

Thanks

had mine 6 years with no problem, i have driven the fiat comfortmatic as well but much prefer the Quickshift box,
it's very intuitive and rarely gets it wrong, but with a quick flip you can use the correct gear for the occasion,
interestingly the quickshift box is more economical than the pure manual type,
last year i changed the oil but strictly speaking it didn't need it,
i wouldn't hesitate in buying another if we ever change our existing MH,

A belated reply. I have a quickshift in my 2008 Master. Generally it is very good, and I can override the automatic at the flick of the gear lever. It is a little jerky when selecting 1st in slow moving traffic and I need to be doing about 55mph before it will automatically select 6th. I tend to select 6th at a lower speed manually.
This year I had a robotronic unit failure. This is the electro/hydraulic unit that sits on top of the normal gearbox and does all the clever stuff. The symptoms were that it did not want to select 1st from neutral, and eventually not wanting to select other gears. There are NO replacement parts for this robotronic unit, it must be changed for a new one. I was quoted £1600 just for the unit. I know man (don't we all?) who works on Renault commercials and he fitted a unit he "acquired" for £850. He said it came from a write off. I have completed 6000 miles on the replacement and it is fine.
All in all, I love it. It makes for a very relaxed driving experience. My readout says I am averaging 33.2 mpg. over about 5000 miles

Have a look online there are lots of horror stories about this gearbox.
But I suppose there are reliability stories about all sorts of engines gearboxes etc.

Best to ask on a mechanics/Renault forum.
