Hi all

I'm interested in what costs people are running at when travelling. I'm looking to plan finances for the future.

Especially any fulltimers, who should have a good idea of all ongoing costs.

Particularly helful if not RV based, but would still be of interest if RV based.

How much do people think they need per year for travelling around Europe.

Have a good evening.

 I am a Full-Timer and have an RV BUT use a Swift Suntor for commuting and use while in the UK.
Travelling costs?
Fuel to Ferry, depends where from and where to?
Ferry cost, depends where from and where to?
Fuel to Destination, depends where from and where to?
Cost of Camping sites, depends where, when and how long.
Cost of Insurance, Road Fund licence/Tax and MOT (if required), depends on your own circumstance.
Other expenses, depends on how often you go out with friends and whether you are on holiday or are living the proper Full-timing way?
We spend from week to week around £30 to £50 including meals out with friends.

Hope this helps? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Hi spudandpatricia

We have been "on the road" for a few years now, and yes we do keep track of our expenditure.:winky:

Realistic figures are £12k - £14k per year, all in.

We have used a Lunar Roadstar, a Bessy E760 and recently changed again to a Hymer. Oh yes, that figure does not take into account the depreciation, and exchange costs.

I think, from other discussions, that it is a similar cost for an RV.:whatthe:

You can make it as high as you wish, but that, I think, is your starter for 10.

Good luck:thumb:

was looking for what cost are incurred typically

Not much help really but thanks.

I was looking for what cost are incurred typically if someone is logging them.

I know everything depends on what you do, you don't need to tell me that.

Its probably cheaper not to have a vehicle and stay at home or use a bike etc.

That's not what it's about, is it ?

We fulltime in a euro camper - LeVoyager.
We don't eat out much but otherwise we do much as we want. We have a Smart on a trailer and drive about 10,000 miles a year. We seldom wild camp.
Costs are about £40/day.

Two working age friends who set out to do a year and then decided they wanted to do another year in a Bessacar 7m have, they tell us, got it down to 12 euros a day but they do a lot of wild camping and don't have a toad.

Hope that helps.

I don't have much idea myself but previous quotes of 12k-14k per annum corresponds well to the £40 a day also quoted by another poster.

Sites are a big item so a bit of wild camping/Aires must make a big difference.

In our case we still have to pay the household bills while away so quite a bit more.

There are some efficient people who do keep an itemised log of all expenditure so hopefully one of those will answer you.

Way too scary.

It's more "HOW MUCH" when the CCs statement drop in.

Maybe this will help then.

When I'm hacked off with the wee hoos that I'm in I go away in my van.

When I go away in my van I think, how can I make this a financially viable change from said wee hoos?

Easy, go past ASDA or Tesco to fill up with cheap diesel and on the way, back or forward, fill my Calor bottles with LPG.

Every little helps!:thumb:

If you PM me your email address( don't know how to attach documents to a PM ) I can attach spreadsheets for 3 month trips through France and round the Iberian peninsula with both a caravan and a 5er for the last 3 years.
