Hi All
I am thinking about fitting LED side marker lights - but need help with the following:
Can I take the supply from the tail lights?
Would I wire them in parallel or series?
What would be the best way to make the joints waterproof?
Thanks in anticipation

Possibly.
Parallel.
I often solder and coat joints in contact adhesive. More than one layer. Otherwise self amalgamating tape.

It's "possibly" because modern all singing and dancing electronically switched lighting ( CANBUS ) might measure the current, see it is above nominal and turn off the feed. But if it's good old SWITCH no problem with any normal LED load.

Thanks for info, really helpful but, - what is "self amalgomating" tape?

It's a black rubber tape, soft and stretchy, not sticky. The clever thing is, it's treated with something that after it's stretched round a joint it bonds together in a water tight seal. All good aerial installers use it.

Not cheap but very good.

Hi David, I've just fitted 6 marker lights to my vehicle. As it is the new generation vehicle with CANBUS electrics I took the feed directly to the fuse box and have had no problems.
Good Luck,
Wilf

Solder the joints and use heatshrink tubing over the connections.

See here for a supplier
