Hello I have just spoken to South Lincolnshire DA, who are holding a meet at Whisby Garden Centre, Whisby 3-6 December

Its £28.00 for the whole time and this includes free transport to and from the Market.

There is hardstanding for motorhomes but no EHU.

They are a friendly bunch of people, and if you want to book speak to Karen or her husband on 01526 834913

You have to be members of Camping and Caravanning Club.

I have put my name down provisionally.

Sounds Great if anyone else would like to go book direct but let me know if youre going.

Looking forward to meeting up, lets hope the weather is kind to us, but a little snow would make it more festive I suppose.

Hi all,

Well, here we are, tucked up in our nice warm MHs, after visiting the market's opening night.
This is a well organised meet by the South Lincs DA of the C&CC. The location is ideal with hardstanding for us MH'ers and firm grass for the tuggers. A double decker bus is laid on twice in the evenings, and at several times during the day on Saturday. We are pitched in the grounds of a large garden centre, with a couple of small restaurants selling food all day, including big breakfasts.

We, that is Rita and I, along with Pat & Neil had a wander round the Christmas market last night.
It has certainly grown some, since Rita and I were last here, (about 16 years ago), with stalls of every description, and a fairground all within the illumimated backdrop of the Cathedral and Castle.
Traders are dressed in period costumes, with bell ringers making regular announcements.

Whilst Pat & Neil watched the opening ceremony, Rita and I (who were frozen stiff), wandered into the Struggles Inn, sat next to a roaring coal fire, and sampled the delights served at the bar.
I had a pint of Oldershaws "Christmas Berry" which was quite nice, and then tried Titanic's "Chocolate & Vanilla" stout. :whatthe:
It sounds like a right wooss's beer, but it was excellent, and didn't have that bitter"roasted barley" flavour that is normally associated with stouts. It was a wonderful pint, one of which I shall be partaking of again later. :ROFLMAO:

Cheerio for now,

Jock & Rita, and Pat & Neil.

:cry:Unfortunately, I'm always forgetting to take the camera out with us, even though we almost always have one in the MH.

Thanks to you both, and to Bob & Jane for the good wishes though. :thumb: We'll make sure that Pat & Neil get them too.

Cheers for now,

Jock & Rita, and Pat & Neil.

P.S. That Chocolate & Vanilla Stout tasted better second time around. :thumb: Oh, and the Rudgate Ruby Mild wasn't too bad either. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Oh yes, and as it's Rita's birthday, we're off to "The Pride Of Lincoln" pub across the A46 tonight for a meal, after spending a cold but sunny day in the city. This has been a good weekend all round. :thumb:

Regards,

Jock.

Hello all,

Just go back from a very festive weekend.

Lincoln certainly know how to run a well organised event, with many thousand visitors.

We enjoyed to opening ceremony outside the cathedral, had a couple of opera singers who sang a few carols. Very christmassy, just what I wanted. Has mentioned Jock and Rita had copped out and were in the pub around a warm fire.

I was warmed by some nice hot roasted chestnuts. It was great seeing so many different stalls, there were so many food and drink stalls, you could easily overindulge. Lots and Lots of christmas decoration stalls and sweet ones (yummy I had banana and toffee my favourite and still have my fillings in tact).

There were lots of characters walking around, from balloon making elves, and tap dancing turkeys.

The South Lincolnshrie C CC, did an excellent job, they dressed up on the bus and escorted us with great cheer.

We escaped the rain every time as it only rained late a night, apart from when we were going to the pub with Jock and Rita on Ritas birthday, but we didnt get too wet.

On Saturday we got the coach to drop us of and Silver street shops, and manage to get quiet a lot of our xmas shopping done, mostly going in and out of HMV several times. The whole place was heaving but everyone seemed good natured, and although those sort of places are Neils hell, he was in good cheer.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I would thoroughly recommend going to Lincoln Market, more so with the South Lincolnshire C C C has the normal park and ride is £12 per person, we only paid £35 for three nights pitches and the coach journeys were free.

Thanks to Jock and Rita for sharing our weekend with us.

Love Pat and Neil

The same sentiments from us, and thank you both for the "heads up" on this one. We are South Lincs DA members, but weren't aware of the meet ourselves.:Blush::Blush:

Jock & Rita. ::bigsmile:

P.S. Pat, you forgot to mention the Turkey Roast and Steak Pie dinners we all had before departure today. :ROFLMAO: The icing on the cake, so to speak. :winky:
