Having recently had hydraulic jacks fitted I am looking for suitable pads to spread the weight on our brick paved driveway.
I have considered timber / plywood blocks but in the interest of simplicity am also looking at these .... Link Removed

Would be interested to hear if any Funsters are using these or similar .. @Techno?

I have 4 blocks made from two layers of 18mm ply glued and screwed together also another two from 2 inch PSE timber cut and fixed at 0 deg 90 deg so they give just under 4 inch lift if needed.

What I would do is ignore the levelling function and just lower the jacks to the point of contact so that the four feet and four tyre contact points share the load rather than letting it lift

I made 4 18x18" out of 18mm ply, use them everytime, still good after 10 years. The rv weighs just over 9 ton.

First moho 11/2013, second 11/2014 current from 09/2019.
Nothing complicated for me - I have a scaffolding board chopped into 8 qty x 12" lengths which I keep in the Moho garage. We have a brindle brick drive but have never used the hydraulic jacks on the drive. The boards are perfect however to increase the height of the lift or spreading the pressure on soft grass or sand.

I don't bother with blocks of any kind no hint of marks on our block paved drive, if I does sink I will be shouting at the firm that laid it (y)

what I have noticed though, we had a large (1 ton) bag of sand left for a few months, that has left a much cleaner surface now the bag has been removed o_O

They would most likely be OK on hard ground but on soft ground the jacks are likely to punch a hole through them

They are very strong Andy as they are supplied as jack pads for off road vehicles.
I already have 1220 x 310 x 25mm thick sand ladders (Tracmats) which have no problem with 4250Kg moho on soft ground and these jack pads are 35mm deep.
However, I think I will initially go for the suggestion of scaffold board pieces.

The pads should adjust to the slope of the paving and, if a good diameter, should need nothing more.

I agree but they are needed when a pitch slopes beyond the reach of some the legs.

we get quite a lot of alerts for too much slope, manual adjustment has always overcome when the computer says no :)

without extra pads that is (y)

Hi,

Can you please let me have a link for these pads? Did you buy them in the end and if so, are they any good?

Cheers

Here is an interesting You tube article, their eventual choice is what we have for all the reasons identified.

Hiya, The pads shown are the same as normal sand ladders which I carry if there is a danger of getting bogged in but I eventually decided to use proper jack pads .........

I’d be interested to know whether over time the rectangular ridge which allows the blocks to ‘lock together’ may get slightly deformed by the jack pads thus not locking together as designed as the ridge would be taking the whole weight of the MH and not the actual pad.

Thanks so much, they look exactly what I'm looking for.
Did you have to get them in the USA or is there a UK supplier?

I have used them on my last RV and my Flair, no damage to the locking elements. I also had a local chippy make 4 bases if you like with flat one side and a routed channel the other so as to ensure no damage to channel or ridge.

Peter, I got them from the US you might find them on one of the UK RV spares web sites. I'll look when I get back see what options there are.

Ah thanks so much. I'll have a gander too but I have already looked for some online in the UK and they are few and far between; certainly haven't seen these beauties before :)

I have seen some people with the yellow ones but the routed depression for the Jack foot is not actually big enough for most E+P or Golschmitt so you have to use them upside down.
