Hi all, our ferry arrives in Portsmouth from Bilbao at 20.15 hrs, depending on immigration checks could be 21.00hrs or later before we clear the port. Looking for somewhere safe to stay overnight before travelling North the following morning. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Was fine we we stayed overnight in April, initially parked in one of the Marina car parks then one of the port security men came and spoke to us said we were fine to stay there but suggested it might be better to move to the car park behind the sports centre and restaurants, this was due to the number of nails in the marina car park from the chocks of wood used to cradle the yachts when out of the water. He was a very pleasant chap and we had a good night no probs in the car park, had fun watching the stressed gym bunnies arrive after work in their mercs and BMWs dressed in designer gym kit:LOL:

Thanks all for your input, our travelling companions booked a "ferry" pitch at Rookesbury Park Caravan Club site so swimbo has done the same. They have 7 ferry pitches complete with ehu and tv booster hook ups in a separate enclose for one night use only for those going or coming from ferries. Must be booked direct with the site. Handy to know.

Used this location last week. Top notch!! We arrived off the ferry in pitch dark, and went right down the end of the spit, to find another van already parked up. So we turned around and parked immediately in front of them. As I put the blinds up, I noticed the tide was well out. Not sure when high tide actually occurred, but in the morning there was a lot of damp shingle under the rear wheels of the van, together with some seaweed............ The other van must have had all wheels submerged as they were a bit lower than us!

was there this weekend, have used it lots of times but sadly think it wont be long before the no camping signs go up,there must have been 12 vans there, when i have only seen 3/4 in the past, its location being blasted over the internet does not help.
why is it when people find a nice free parking site do they feel the need to tell every man and his dog?????
and one clown even desided it would be a good idea to have a fire on the beach, even bought his own firewood:rolleyes:
