Alloy Wheel load bearing? ? (1 Viewer)

Help again please. .
I'm considering fitting a set of alloy wheels to my 4.25t motor home. The last time I had dealings with alloys was in the 90's and they were fitted as standard. After 3 months they started to crack and it was found they weren't suitable for the vehicle size. I've found a set and each one is stress tested to cope with 940kg.
Can anyone advise me if this load tolerance would be acceptable on my vehicle.

Can easy get alloys with 1250kg or even higher load rating. What vehicle chassis is it and wheel size? and year!

EDIT 940 kg is not adequate

Probably not.....don't know which vehicle, but ours has 2240kg max at the back axle, so you would need alloys rated at least 1120kg. I looked into the business of fitting alloys but in motorhomes there is nothing to gain apart from looks as they weigh about the same as steel wheels.

I think you have answered your own question as 4 of these alloys will still be 490kg short of what is required unless it's a tag axle.
Also although not important to some, your insurer would see it as a modification (and if aware of the loading data would not cover them)

Yes, usually equal to or in excess of the rear axle max load. We are looking at the issue from two different directions, which is nicely constructive...

Sorry for not giving all the facts.
It's on a Fiat with Alko chassis and has 16"wheels. Model is a carthago AClass .

http://www.tyresave.co.uk/alloyvan.html specialise in alloy wheels for motorhomes. Big range and very helpful over the phone to make sure that you get suitable wheels. Be aware you may need different wheelbolts too - Tyresave can advise and of course sell you a set.
