For anyone considering going to the Motorhome Show at the NEC 11-16 October thought it would be good to know in advance what new models or products that will be on display & any deals on offer. We have contacted some of the dealers to see what they have new for 2017 & if they can donate any free tickets available to go into a free prize draw (look out for the separate thread :)) for Funsters - so far we have one pair of tickets kindly offered offered by Alistair from SMC Motorhomes Newark (y)
SMC say that "all new Frankia 2017 models will be on display , including rear lounge A-class the I740 Plus , a UK mainstay the i640SD big front lounge and front A-class bed and the Flagship Platin 8400 QD, with its self sufficient energy system, 4x solar panels, 3x leisure batteries , intelligent charge system and much more all based on the V6 Mercedes Benz 5.3T chassis with a7 speed auto geartronic gearbox.
For Globecar we have a 2017 Line up. Right where you would expect to find us in the panel van section. With the new 2017 models and show deals not to be missed. Some models not displayed before in the UK. "

I think you said somewhere else that "free fitting" was in leu of the Funster discount, or has that changed.

Funster discount is available 'discreetly' on the Fiamma stand for items purchased over the counter and taken away but not on the free awning fittings, costs a fortune to be at the NEC

Thank you for clarifying this - we have heard how much stands at the NEC can cost  It's a shame that these high costs means that it's not viable for new products being produced on a small scale to be on even the smallest & most remote stands.

Just spotted that Mr D's will have a new 3L size cooker (ÂŁ84.95) at the Show http://mrdscookware.com/ - that's now on our list to have a look at :)
Looking at the website like the improvements - cast iron ring on internal base & carry handles - glad we didn't buy one before as always wanted handles on it & the add on carry bag seemed a bit over the top for in the motorhome & the ring must extend/improve cooking. Just need a good Show deal on it now?!

Van Bitz are in Hall 12 Stand number 130 We have the Dometic Lithium ion battery on the stand for people to look at and play with, mind you at ÂŁ1500 we only expect to sell a few dozen ;)

We along with all Dometic dealers are offering free standard installation on Air Conditioning systems, booked in at the show.

We will also have the new WiFi App camera system where the camera is displayed on a Android or Apple device controlled by the app. The retail price of the kit is ÂŁ299 and Dometic will be selling them at the show for ÂŁ199

Other than those, we (Van Bitz) have lots of other offers but none apply to our MotorhomeFun chums as you all get 10% off all the time which is better than the offers we are giving to the general public (You know those sad people that haven't discovered Motorhome Fun yet (y))

Know that Duvalay sleeping bags aren't for everyone but their mattress toppers are the best quality that we have found so far & last year we got 25% discount off our whole order placed at the Show (y) We did ask if they could offer an online discount for afterwards but it was a Show only deal. For anyone considering ordering it might be worth checking at their stand - don't think there were any signs last year as we had to ask if any offers.
Our son is sleeping well on his topper at uni (there is no such thing as padding or support with uni beds :() - we got a top of the range one thanks to the discount :) Duvalay also included free delivery rather than us take stock from the Show (again had to ask) & it did take about a month to get the order but luckily we weren't in a rush.
Just checked the website & spotted the new Dinky Duvalay for 2-8 year olds http://www.duvalay.co.uk/Campervans/campervans-dinky-duvlay Link Removed
Looks like they have a good use for their offcuts of memory foam

Hi Peter, how much do you charge for the free awning fitting? And is there a choice of colour and sizes with the free awnings?;)

For anyone that wants a free tea or coffee  (daily 10am until midday) there is flyer to print off (multiple times if your printer ink is cheap?!) here <Broken link removed> There's also details of the Show offers on Swift motorhomes which are typical of what most manufacturers do.

Details of Show offer on the new size cooker from Dave Knowles " I will be selling the 3L with cook book and Mr D's Top Pot for ÂŁ110.00. From my web shop the price is ÂŁ125.89 plus delivery which is ÂŁ9.99 to UK mainland (excluding Highlands & Islands)."

Some (hopefully) useful hints & tips for anyone visiting the Show for the first time:
Parking is included in the cost of your ticket & plenty of room to park the motorhome but not allowed to stay overnight. Car parks are normally some distance away from the main building & as lots of Show halls to walk around so might be a good idea to hop on the free shuttle bus that take you from the carpark to the main entrance but don't forget to note which car park you are in!
Sensible shoes - not just because of the large area that you might cover but also going up & down all those motorhome steps of varying heights safely.
Wear layers as although may be cold outside it gets really hot in the halls with all the lights & people.
Taking a rucksack with food & drinks is a good idea as cheaper & don't have to queue. Suggest only one rucksack if two of you as some manufacturers don't allow them to be taken into their premium models so may have to take it in turns or leave it outside.
There is the option of visiting M&S Simply Food at the nearby airport by walking then using the free Air-Rail link - we've not done this yet but heard that it's easy & loads of people had M&S picnics last year. Any NEC staff should be able to point you in the right direction as they are normally friendly & helpful.
You can go in & out of the halls freely just don't forget to get your hand stamped the first time you leave. When it's busy & crowded being able to get outside in the fresh air for a break is really good.
Pace yourself - it's a lot to get around (takes us two days!) & if you have a limited time suggest planning & prioritising the stands you want to see. Suggest downloading the floor plan from here Link Removed on your phone. Also more detailed info. about the traders & larger map at the back of the Show guide which can be downloaded in advance here http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/579a9229#/579a9229/1 although you will also get a free copy on arrival.
There is free Wi-Fi so worth checking any prices or information online before buying - some sales staff don't know all the facts or might even make it up to get a sale :(
Take photos of Show prices & layouts (there are usually boards outside each motorhome) & anything else that you might forget later. It's easy to be dazzled by all the glitz & excitement of the Show.
Ask for a cooling off period with your choice of motorhome held if you do agree a sale - 24 hours is normal.
Be friendly & smile - it's long hours & hard work on the stands so more likely to get a good deal if you are likeable not demanding :)

Thanks @Wombles that's really helpful (y)

I've been to the NEC before, but not by car. Are you allocated a car park or are you free to choose? Is the bus stop clearly signed?
Thanks again

You are welcome - glad it might be of use :) With regards to parking you are guided in by marshalls & directed to the next car park to be filled but you can normally pick your area to park within that car park. The bus stops have some shelter so are normally easily visible but if not just ask the NEC staff as there should be plenty around or perhaps follow the crowds although they could be choosing to walk all the way instead of wait for the next bus. We used to walk even from the furthest car park (being impatient & thinking that the exercise would do us good!) but if you want to see everything it's a long day with a lot of walking so now we wait for the bus & pace ourselves if in a distant car park.

We have been told that there will be the launch of a new camera system that shows all 4 corners of the MH as if viewing from above. I have no idea who is selling it, but if anyone sees such a thing could they post the name of it please.

Thank you Womble We enjoyed it yesterday and all your points are brilliant wish we had had them when we first went 3 years ago!!
We found going out and walking outside the halls but still inside easier than struggling back through the halls to visit a stall we had missed!
The maps are great !
Actually the first year we didn't buy anything! But love the new Mr Ds smaller pot so may put that on my Christmas list!!
