Just opened NS cab door and found 40+ flies tucked deep in the rubber door seal. I haven't a clue how they got there but they are now looking for another home!
Has anyone else had this problem or should I get Fiat to look at my 2015 van?

I can't say I've had this problem myself but our son/daughter-in-law have a caravan on a site. They get what they refer to as 'caravan flies' which they all seem to get. They look like house flies with a slight yellowy tinge. I wonder if that's what you have?

Opened the awning, after our last trip to Scotland, to discover a swarm of flies making it their home. I've never shut the hab door so fast.

On our 2004 Ducato we had an 'infestation' in both cab doors, two locker doors & canopy housing and this was only after standing for five days after a week long trip in the MH.

Not long enough!
Funnily enough on my first van, a lil Auto-sleeper Pescara, the first year I had it I had the same thing loads of flies in the door seals in the autumn, but it only happened the once:confused:
I suppose you could try spraying some of this around the seals(y)

When we had a pest control man out to dispose of a wasps nest in the house he said he gets called out all the time by farmers for fly swarms.

For the last few years we had loads of ladybirds (not the ones in my dreams:rolleyes:) and lacewings trying to hibernate in roof light and door seals ... I'm sure the best solution is to keep using the moho all winter.

I suppose all it takes is for one to get in. When it lays eggs and they hatch out you have a swarm!

Don't the strong versions of that stuff have a reputation for eating through cloth/clothing? :cautious:

Yes, we had the same last year when parked in a field, they somehow sneaked in the door gap. Didn't want to fill the hab area with fly spray, so ran dustpan brush along surrounds and got rid of them, then sprayed the door surrounds inside and out with a strong lavender oil spray. Seemed to do the trick and stop them.

We live in the countryside near fields and we used to get them around the edges of our house windows. They were horrible when you started to open the window you could them buzzing (shudder) never opened the windows at night as they fly into the light! But the last couple of years nothing so maybe they have moved on :)

Sounds like a classic case of cluster flies. Cluster flies look to hibernate at this time of the year and will squeeze into the gaps of external doors, windows and love loft spaces. living in the Cotswolds we have problems with them every year, and in some cases it can be like the scene in Amityville:mad:

Some info off the net. Cluster flies

Yes you are right they are called cluster flys. Hubby went up into the loft one year and saw a black round ball shape in the corner. When he approached it was moving! So a black bin liner was wrapped around it and disposed of. They are quite dosile but just so horror film like! Can't believe (touch wood) there are none so far in our windows!

Yep, that's what you got.... I have them in my loft every year...! I have to put fumigators up there to get rid of them... But then I have to get the Hoover up there to clear them up...

Some small silicon tubeing threaded in and then put tube onto Hoover nozzle, it may not suck up wasp but will pick it up to pull up to and out of the hole...(y)
