Has anyone used this aire? We're thinking of going there tomorrow en route to the Monts du Cantal. Saturdays weather is forecast to be bad so we're looking at staying low until it gets better.

We're then thinking of going to an aire at le Loren to do do some volcano walking. Anyone been there also?

Thoughts???

Thanx.

No replies :(.

We're here anyway. Nice place to park 20 km east of St. Flour. Very quiet village, church, shop for bread and little else.

The aire is opposite a small lake and picnic area.

Hi Judith, is it Le Lioran you are heading to next ? If so, yes we stayed there this summer and enjoyed it, good walking, lovely valley.

We thought we might do a days skiing on the way to Spain this winter if the snow is good enough.

Yay, a reply. Yes we're going there tomorrow. Looks like some good walks in/up the volcanoes! Tomorrow may be wet so Sunday onwards and upwards.

Predictive text changed it to Loren. Wondered why my searches for walks kept bringing up Sophia!!!

It's just a big car park but fantastic views and short stroll up to a village centre, watched the TDF there this summer. Very helpful Tourist info office in resort. We returned a few days later after TDF had finished for a bit more walking.

There are a few more Aires a bit further down the valley as well, Vic Sur Cere was nice, handy for a supermarket and marked walks.

We went up on a lift in the ski station just below the aire that took you up towards Puy Grigou. It was the L'alagnon lift that took you that way then there was a track saying puy Grigou.

That was in the summer, the lifts may not be running in October.
