Hymer TCL698 - habitation step will not retract - seems to be trying by making humming noise but won't move
Tried button on dash - still no joy
Any ideas as to what is wrong?

Mine has stuck a few times... Crud!.
I gave it a hand to retract then cleaned the gunk off and lubricated ... That semed to sort it :)

We have this at the moment :-(. It happened on holiday, once its in retract mode i.e. Step will freely move, we cabled tied it up. The only problem was the buzzer for the alarm was going off all the time. So we had to remove the fuses to cut the power to the step. We videoed the sound and emailed to our dealer, who said it sounds like a new step. So we are having a one fitted soon.

Quick update - just spoken with the tech guys they reckon its the spindle. They are ordering a new part. So will hold back with a bungee whilst travelling.
Does not bode well, as the Hymer is only 2 months old - clearly a design fault which needs addressing
Thanks Funsters for all your reply's
