We only have experience of La Toretta.. I believe it is about the cheapest there, is certainly the closest to most of the eateries etc, accepts dogs ( with their owners ! ) and is run by a very nice man indeed..

For us it's a toss up between Villasol and El Raco which are in our opinion the best two Benidorm sites. But as we now know lots of lovely folk at El Raco it's our preferred choice!

Folk left Benidorm in March/April this year to head south and towards Portugal. Many then returned because the weather further south and west was wet and windy...meanwhile during the same period in Benidorm it remained dry and sunny :)

Benidorm....A bit like Marmite really. Either you love it or hate it, but what you must remember is, its open, its cheap, it has the best winter sun outside North Africa, they speeka da English, its a days drive from the northern Spanish ports, you can get Coronation St, with a 1.2 metre dish, they have all your English food in the corner shop, they have the best free entertainment anywhere in the world. Having spent the last 16 winters there I can say with all honesty, I have never once been bored. Five minutes drive out of town and you are in the real Spain, if thats what you want. Just maybe the 17 MILLION Brits that visit every year are all wrong and an odd one or two funsters are right .

I absolutely love Benidorm.:h: (y)
Hoping to get there soon.

I love people watching and there are plenty of people there to watch.
We don't really do the pub scene, but do enjoy eating out at all of the affordable eateries.
We take the dogs. They quite like it too.
I feel comfortable there and I love the daily blue skies.
Leave some room for us.

I strange statement from one in the entertainment industry JJ. I always thought those that had worked in the entertainment industry as being social animals.

You must be joking...

Being sociable to (often drunk) strangers (who were often right pains in the neck) was part of the job which I did for decades.

Jeez... Back in the eighties, I even did a summer season (45mins on the cabaret stage, once a week) at Butlins, Skegness...

Now retired, I avoid boozed up Brits on holiday like I would the plague.

You should keep well away from the Algarve then :).

You have been there...

You didn't come across any boozed up Brits in the sophisticated locations I took you to.

What centres of sin you found on the rare times I let you (and your child bride) out on your own, are unknown to me...

Went there once when I was a small child, so perhaps 32 or 33 years ago.

No desire whatsoever to go there now.

Loads of Brits and shops full of English food sound like 2 very good reasons to avoid it.

Vera interestink!. When we went to Spain a few years back, someone told me that Benidorm due to it`s location, had it`s own "micro-climate" which gave it more sunny warm days even when places only a few miles away where actually colder?. Is there any truth in that?.

P.s Chinese? . A couple of really good ones too. !!!.

Is it possible just to turn up at most campsites without booking ahead, if of course there is room avaliable. Or whats the best way for a noob to spend winter in spain but not in one place?

Best two sites are Villasol and Raco. Would avoid La Toretta as it floods nearly every year.
