Just back from a trip down to @eddievanbitz emptying cassette at home and the handle extended causing the cassette to hit the ground:swear2: . This is what happens when plasic cassette hits block paving while full .

No help after the event but I never pick mine up by the metal handle, only the plastic one attached to the actual tank bit. But at least I guess it was emptied quickly - and hopefully not indoors! :)

I keep saying I'll buy a new one and keep the old one in case I've nowhere to empty it and as a spare. This has reminded me.

My old Thetford cassette had a crossways handle grip near the rear which enabled me to get a good grip when pulling it out. The new one just has a moulded rear extension right at the back without a proper handhold. I live in fear of doing what you have just done! Progress.

Don't worry, I won't be doing it again. must say I prefer the Thetford design rather than the Dometic, thankfuly it was outdoors when the sh*t hit the ground --- and shoes ---and trousers.:(
