Today we have had yet another oven door fitted to our oven, the third to be exact, and finally we have an oven that my wife can open the door herself it would seem that the problem was the hinges being to stiff.
When I asked Dometic about how hard it was to open the oven door they said you have to pull hard (very hard) hence we now have our third door but in my deffence they told me to pull hard so if anyone else has expeirenced this problem get on to Dometic as the new door now works fine

Haha!
The Dometic Tec Tower oven otherwise known as the Tupperware cupboard as thats all it gets used for storing in our van.
The oven is so high up Gwen can't see in it and if she was to try and take anything hot out of it there is a good chance any spillages would be on her head!
Our door is also very stiff, but for the reasons above we just don't use it as I don't think it's a very safe design unless you are tall.

Yes we have one as well, I wouldn't describe the door as very stiff but then our van is an '09.

Not the easiest thing to use due to position, although I can just about see in to ours.

There is definitely a technique to getting stuff out without tipping it up or burning yourself. I've recently put some of those silicone shelf edges in which help. It is actually quite a good oven after all that:D

Our Oven door is also almost impossible to open. So high to be dangerous to open if not tall. When you say you are on the third door were these under warranty as ours is 4 years old now and virtually unused.

Our oven is in the same place as when we bought the van so I can not moan about that as we accepted that when we purchased it. It is no good complaining about something after finding out you are not tall enough to use it.But not being able to open the door due to strength then that is a problem:xgrin:

We put new hinges on ours and found it so much better to open. Think they had a problem with the hinges.

We have the same problem with our oven and the door has dropped on one side. Did you have to to ta ke the whole tower out or can you adjust the hinges in-situ?

It's easy to get the door off and change the hinges just a lot of screws to undo. No need to take oven out. Good chance to clean glass also.

Our oven has a door hinged at the top that is not at all stiff to open or close......that is the problem.
It is so loose it is very likely to drop onto your arm when trying to put something in or when removing hot food.
In my opinion its downright dangerous.
Is that a common problem or is ours a one off?

Richard.

Sounds variable, ours works fine with just the right amount of friction on the hinges.

With the new (door) and hinges it has worked fine since. Quality control may be an issue we had 3 new door hinges.Basicly Dometic had got it wrong.

Ended up fitting new hinges to our oven in April. The hinges got that stiff that one bent and when i refitted the new hinges i used a high temp grease on them. Motorhome was built in 2010.

If it's this one -
I have had it apart to lube the hinges, it's not hard and it gives you a chance to clean the inner door.
It was obviously too stiff to lift and needed fixing.
