If you have the agreement paperwork, you'll get back what your agreement says. If you haven't got paperwork for bottles, it is better than nowt. I'm not sure how much you could sell them for privately.

I was offered £5 for a bottle in Cornwall a few weeks ago. They weren't able to do an exchange because of the apparent shortage of bottles nationally.

Calor are very short of cylinders at the moment.
We are not getting all we order.
Shortages especially of 6kgs, and Lite cylinders.
We have always given a fiver for cylinder returns with no paperwork.
We can then get more new customers by not asking them for at least £39.99 deposit, of which you never get it all back as Calor quaintly call it a Cylinder Rental Agreement, instead of deposit!

When the Lite bottles first came out I had a "full and frank discussion" with a Calor rep at the NEC about the extra charge. He insisted it was to pay for all the new bottles and wouldn't accept that Calor would make a saving on old style bottles because they would be replaced by the new ones. From this story it appears that Calor have been cutting costs by not maintaining stocks of either bottle type whilst still, of course, charging far more than the actual gas cost for replacements.

Sell them on eBay. I got £20.00 for empty and £42.00 for full
When you first take out a Calor cylinder, you pay them a deposit on the cylinder plus the gas. The cylinder deposit reduces over years till its worth nothing after about 5 years or so.
So when I got the Gaslow system, I sold Calor and BP cylinders and made a nice chunk back. From both I'd have got nothing.

Get them sold! You'll have a few quid but importantly extra space and others benefit from getting the cylinders cheaper.

A couple o years ago I had a salesman from another LPG co wanting our business, they did not charge a deposit, BP, they were willing to do up all the shop front in their livery etc, fancy lightweight see thro cylinders as well.
Try finding one now!
I am also reliably informed the big companies pay approx €11 for a new 6 kg cylinder so the deposit racket is a rip off, hope Calor don't read this

We have one or two about but think they are stopping where they are, cost nearly that much to take them back , then if you happen to need one it's going to cost you 30 quid to start again.

for camping gas bottles morocco is the place to get them . cheap as chips . but try to leave maroc with one that looks ok . other countries dont like the pastry cutter look to many in maroc .
but only about a quid to exchange a 907 bottle . used to be 10 dh only a few years ago.

I sold 2 at a car boot a while back. One full & 1 empty 35 quid the lot. Helps to have the screw in cap as they fetch 2-5 quid alone as many places will not exchange without the cap.

The current score is:- Argas 19Kg (for my Garage Heater) Argas 6kg and Calor 6kg (on the M-H). "Spare" 6kg calor. 1 13kg Calor Butane, One 13Kg Calor Propane. 2 Flogas 11kg. (1 Empty 1 Half full) 1 13kg Calor Patio gas (for the Barbecue.) AND The Spanish Repsol 13kg, from when we used to overwinter in Spain!. I gave the CEPSA away recently to a guy who was going out for the Winter.!

Part of the problem is there (was) being no (financial) incentive to return them.

In the past I have posted that I have had a few French and Spanish cylinders available free to anybody on here, no takers, so they get left outside for the thieves that think that they are on to something, scrap yard etc.
No reputable yard will touch them as there is normally a bit of tar in the the bottom which is highly flammable.

Last year I ran out on a holiday in Scotland, can you guess the sh!t I got from the wife?
