The anti speeding campaign being operated by the Guardia Civil throughout Spain this summer captured 31000 assorted motorists last week......... approx 3 million euros in fines!

Check out the chart to be sure you know max limits for your van. Most vans will fall into the "furgoneta" category (middle column). Those towing a trailer I suspect will fall into the next column.

Drive safe....... the GC are HOT on this.

By the way:-

Autopistas y autovias. = Toll roads and motorways

Carreteras convencionales
(+1.5 Arcen). = Dual carriageway with hard shoulder

Restos carreteras convencionales. = All single lane roads.

Vias urbanas. = Maximum driving in towns (Nb: Many Spanish towns have lower limits posted)

The fines chart is interesting too. Only 1kph above the stated limit is enough.
Would that be vehicle speedometer or sat nav?
It, apparently, doesn't allow for % error of the speedometer.

Sorry, no idea.

My sat nav shows about 4/5 kph difference to speedo, ie speedo shows 90kph while sat nav shows 85...... go figure!

Should have emphasised in the OP that the campaign is for real this year.

After 13 years living, without penalties here in Southern Spain and travelling many, many 1000's of miles by van and car throughout the peninsula.......... caught TWICE between 1 July and 2 Sept this year.
1st time in July...... 92kph in 60 zone!! ! €200+ 2 points.
2nd offence..... 72kph in 60 zone!!! €100 no points.

Both fines reduced by 50% for payment within 20 days of notification.

So maybe should have taken my own advice..... and checked the limits

I think by law Speedometers should not underestimate your actual speed. Ie if it says 30 you should not be doing more but can be doing less. Satnavs have always shown slower speeds than my Speedo which I assume is for that reason.
