Dog walking holiday in UK recommendations? (1 Viewer)

Hi I wonder if any dog owners can recommend a spot for us to have a holiday with our adult kids next week (7-14 September,) we loved the Peaks but couldn't find any where to let our dog off the lead and a lot of the routes up the hills were blocked by stiles.(around Hope etc)
We live by the beach so prefer not to have a beach holiday. We also walk in a local forest every day. We'd like somewhere hilly or rural.
We live in Norwich and as the Hymer is not too comfortable for two back seat passengers we don't want to go for hours although we are happy to use Brit stops to break the journey.
Any ideas appreciated.

Rutland water? About 2.5 hours from Norwich,lyndon top campsite charge 7 quid a day no leccy or you can have leccy at a cl ,there is a footpath going round the lake for 25 miles or so ,no Stiles but some areas do have sheep wandering about

Yorkshire dales. Lots of dog friendly pubs , hills valleys , big open spaces etc. Don't stay in the same place though. Tour around.

Ferry meadows caravan club site Peterborough, site is in the park itself, around 580 acres of parkland, dog can be off lead and lots of different walks in the park, you could do a differant walk every day, very close to you in Norwich it is a great site for dogs, first time we went my wife said why are you taking me to Peterborough but now we can't keep away.

South downs in sussex. You have chichester on your doorstep and goodwood plus beautiful scenery.
We like the c&cc graffham site near Petworth. Right out in the sticks with great walks from the entrance.

Agree lovely park but just stay there. Peterborough town is pretty dire...sorry to anyone that thinks otherwise

Also north essex has some lovely countryside. If you look at anywhere north of colchester near the suffolk border. That includes the dedham vale area where John Constable painted the Haywain.
Not too far to travel either. We are very different in North Essex to what you see on TOWIE.
Mostly arable farming too so rare to see a stile.
Also not too much rain.

They do a folder of walks called Miles without Stiles. Fabulous resource. Walks range from a mile to 15 miles...

Few hours drive, but sooo worth it at the end is the New Forest. All areas dog friendly. If you use camping in the forest site there are only 2 which do not take dogs, but you can still walk the enclosures. Almost walk where you like, forest, open heathland where ever. Most importantly you are on the south cost for weather. Try it out and enjoy.

Ferry meadows besides having parkland as far as the eye can see also is home to the Nene valley steam railway, abundant wildlife (take your binoculars) large lakes with landing stages for narrow boats, 2 cafes and the one furthest from the site will allow dogs in, my dog runs ahead to get into it, the park provide BBQ stands and it is very well managed and kept tidy with no graffiti to be seen, the people of Peterborough make very good use of the park.

Teversal C&CC site. Lovely site ( worth going just for the showers ) Miles of walking on country park opposite the site, reclaimed mining land.

We are looking for recommended places for walking the dog off the lead and nice walks for us. Happy to drive to where those places are to camp in the van . Don't know the Dales at all so I'm trying to find out where people recommend

Grassington CC site is pretty good. Plenty of paths off in various directions from site and excellent dog walk.
The Foresters Arms in Grassington is dog friendly and good food.

Swaledale is great with plenty of places for the dog to roam.

Orchard campsite, Reeth.
Usha campsite, Mucker
Scar close Hudswell

Great walking country for dogs and humans. River walks, hill walks. Lots of lead mining history and sites to visit. We took a week to tpour down the valley, finishing at Richmond where there a few more sites. Richmond is really nice. with its castle and walled town. Greta walks along the river and the surprise that is the old railway station.
That takes you straight onto the M1

Just spent almost a week at Inver Mill campsite just outside Dunkeld in Perthshire. Wonderful walks where most dogs are off the lead including the excellent Hermitage site. TV and phone signal not the best but the pubs in Dunkeld are in general dog friendly and it is a comfortable walk from the site. Plenty of places for day trips nearby with decent walks for dogs.

You've just brought back memories. We bought our neighbours caravan and as their kids were friends with ours we decided to go to Inver together. They had to borrow an old family van but what a great time we had.
Kids jumping in river, playing in old rubber boat, bike rides, barbies, dogs loved it. I remember plonking my backside on a camping chair and doing a perfect backward somersault.Happy days.

We have decided to split our week between the peaks and the lakes stopping off at Thornton Holt stragglethorpe on the way over
We are sorted for the Dales but we are looking for a nice site in the Lake district where there are lovely dog walks and lovely views of the lakes and hills.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

We had a good stay in Burns Farm near Keswick as castlerig site was water logged.
We fancy breaking our journey back to norwich at the Peterborough site but caravan club is too pricey for us as we're mainly in Europe with the van.
Can anyone recommend a nice dog friendly stop over site around that area ?with a nice dog walk?
