No surprisingly my Hymer has just failed its MOT because the front headlights are incorrectly aligned, something I have suspected for some time. I think this is a result of it being in Europe and not being reset since I bought it. The lights are a pig to get to so not a 'me' type job and you need an alignment board of some sort. Does anyone know of anywhere in Berkshire who could do this job for me.

Many thanks
Peter

Motor homing since 1998.
Hello, first thing I would suggest is that you check to see whether the headlamps are set for UK or Europe.
The dip can be changed as you may know,
Secondly give UCV in Reading a call, an independent truck specialist but good for MOT & advice. Pete Webb was my contact there.

If the alignment has been changed to flat dipping it should still pass an MOT, so probably just the alinement needs adjusting.
You don't say if your van is RHD or LHD, if RHD the standard set up the dip beam should kick up to the left, if LHD standard setting is dip beam kicking up to the right. Both are adjustable for flat dipping.

Thanks Barrie will check them out. Lights don't seem to be set on Europe setting.

Sorry, forgot to mention it is a LHD version. The lights have an adjustment on the back of them that allows them to be adjusted for left/right hand driving so it might just be the adjustment that is wrong. I have found a MOT garage locally that is going to have a look at them on Monday. Hopefully all will be once they get their hands on it.

Many thanks
Peter

As said if they have been set for flat dipping they should pass providing alignment is correct. If you have the Almond Eyes type headlamps there is a lever in the back of the lamp you move round to set flat dipping.
