Just want to say thanks to all the funsters that recommended going to Puy du Foy in France.
We did go and it was absolutely brilliant!!!!!!! Better than some London shows we have seen.
Some were so good we saw them twice - especially the bird show.
We met someone on an Aires that had just come from there and they suggested that we bought an annual pass at 80E instead of the 2 day pass at 55E as we could spend as many days there as we wanted and the motorhome parking was also free with the annual pass (usually 7.50E a night). You don't have to visit the park to use the Aires so you could use it any time.
We did this and spent 3 days at the park and 4 nights on the Aires - the aires was actually quite descent, roomy (about 150 places) with grassy spots and close enough to the park to walk in, although there is a free bus that goes backwards & forwards during certain times (we biked in). Water/waste is available, also a few electric points but I would think these would be hard to get!
TIPS : if you get an annual pass then you will need to get it together with a ticket to exit the Aires from desk 4 at the entrance to the park - you cannot get the exit ticket from the machine on the Aires - you can get this the day before if you want.
The headset that give translation for the shows is available from the information desk and even at 11E (for 2 headphones) it is well worth it as you get to know what the shows are all about - unless you can speak French when you obviously wouldn't need it.
The top show - Cinescenie - is held on Friday & Saturday nights only. Tickets for this show sell out a year in advance but we were told by some participants of the show who were parked opposite us that returned tickets go on sale in the ticket office before the show. We weren't going to bother but hearing the show and seeing the fireworks from our camping pitch it sounded fantastic so on Saturday night we went to que up at 7.30pm (show starts at 10pm) but unfortunately the queue was already quite long. There were only 40 tickets for resale so after queuing for 1 1/2 hrs we didn't get in and had to listen & watch the fireworks again from the motorhome on the Aires that night I would suggest if you really wanted to see the show then take a picnic & start queuing at 6pm - a long wait but worth it!
It has made us determined to see that show so we are going to book tickets for next year when they go on sale in October , fly to Nantes airport (1hr away) and stay in one of the park hotels - the package they offer is very reasonable. The tickets for the show are only 25E!
