Well ... With regards to first LPG fill of two 11kg Alugas bottles fitted after the Hartlepool Rally by Autogas2000 at Thirsk.

All went well... It was POP... Piece of Pish..

20.81 Ltrs for £12.47... Used to pay £21 for 11Ltrs of Calor in a 6kg bottle..

I stopped and turned off the gas valve before getting to the station... Then stopped and turned one back on afterwards....

The question is... Was/Is this necessary!?.. Prior to filling?

So, you travel with your gas bottles in the open position. OK, I suppose if you have a securemotion regulator (or whatever it's called).

I always make sure my bottles are closed when filling up with gas (belt & braces). However, I'm sure there is a non-return valve in the system somewhere, so probably not necessary.

Yes, you should turn the bottles off when filling.

I always travel with mine turned on other than the channel tunnel.

Was rather hoping a post with this title was going to appear in the photo of the day thread - could have scored a record number of views I think!!

I lost mine (gas virginity) about a year ago up against the passenger side of my MoHo, I am amazed however at the different pumps around the country. I called in for some in Edinburgh and it was totally different than the pump where I usually fill up I had to stop and think for a while so may I humbly suggest that those members like @old-mo or @icantremember or @FIDGET don't get refillables as it can get a tad confusing. :imoutahere:

Also worth recalling the gloved hand, I think it was @Geo who posted about the gas escaping and freezing his hand. (Correct me if I'm wrong Geo.)

Always have the gas turned on, what's the point of having an AES fridge otherwise.
Wheather you need to turn off when filling or not, I always turn off as it's the safest of the two options.
