It`s a large site where you choose your own spot to camp.
Nice sandy beach and dunes. Lots of things to do.
Can be expensive in my opinion and can also be crowded particularly at this time of year.
Can also be a little rowdy sometimes
Google to find website and it will give you all info
Don`t think I would go back in school holidays or Bank Holidays !

Here it is in Google Maps/Earth - it's not actually an island, it's a spit of coastal land with a tidal causeway at the end of the lane from Llanbedr.

I loved it on my first visit as a kid, went back camping there in my late teens and paid my last visit in my early twenties.

Must give it another look in the MH some time.

There is loads of stuff for kids to do free of charge. Ignore what it says on the photos Bill, these were all taken on Shell.

Jay will love it make sure you take his bike
And load up with food before you go on as site shop is a little expensive
When you get on don't park up at first place you see ride around and look in all little nooks and crannies you will be suprised at all the little hideaways in woods that you can't easily see
No electric 2 Elysan points plenty of water taps all round
South beach is very long nice sandy north side is rocky
If you can't chill there you can't chill any where
Our 2 grand kids loved it it's one massive play ground

We luv shell island but tend to steer clear on school holidays and bank holidays..far too crowded and noisy, bank holidays can only be booked for a minimum of 2 or 3 days, which is crap cos you find bank holidays are more busy than school holudays lol

Check the tide times before you go as its across a causeway. Do not attempt to cross if the tide is coming in.

Expensive or what...

July / Aug it would cost us £31 per night .. ( two dogs, three adults)

Compare that to France.. Municipal at Chateaudun €8 .. free showers, washing up area, and on the river bank..

No wonder the UK gets tagged as rip-off Britain, and why we go abroad ....

and who said CC sites were expensive..?

I am really confused .. how come it cost me £35 per 7 nights?

I know I am old and had no kids and no dogs .. plus the 7th night is free ... Can't believe I dropped lucky for once.

Prices on Shell are one of the cheapest in the country for the facilities on offer.
A single person over 60 can camp for £39 per week except July and August when its £45 per week. A couple over 60 would pay £78 for a week.
