I haven't seen the advert (probably blocked) but I did buy a 'military' led flashlight from Amazon for a few quid (around a fiver from memory)
Must say, it's remarkably bright considering that it's only two AA batteries.
The only brighter lights I can think of are performance cycling lights (with price tag to match)

  1. Were you thinking of buying a flashlight/ torch?
  2. Do you need a new/ another flashlight/ torch?
If you can answer 'yes' to either of these questions, buy it.
If you answered 'no' to both questions, then don't.

Probably, a UK supplier would call it a torch (or at least I hope so)
Sorry, off topic....I was working on a cruise liner when I got on the radio and asked the duty engineer if I could borrow a torch (problem with computer wires). An hour later, 2 Greek engineers turned up with an oxy-acetelyne cutter having brought it up 7 decks. I was not very popular!

Look for any torch with the Cree T6 in it. As far as I can tell they all originate in China. I have a number of them - bid on those offered at 99p start on eBay. I usually bid on three or four at a time and don't increase my bid beyond £1 - sooner or later I win one (or two or three).

Three years and counting, 30 years a tent tower.
I like this one's blinding bears application, though come to think of it they aren't common in Scotland yet......

May be handy for the occasional rogue haggis though.....

I have loads of torches but wish that the new cree ones would have a very dim setting so that the torch can be used close up or when trying to find something with disturbing others in the room - most are so bright that they burn your retinas if you use them in an an area smaller than the North Yorkshire moors.

I haven't seen that add but last year I bought a small LED torch made by Led Lenser made in Germany. It's probably as bright as a car headlight, superbly made and takes four little batteries. I bought it via Anazon and I think it was around the £35 mark. I just found they now have a UK store http://www.ledlenser-store.co.uk/torches-c70

I've got a couple of these:-

£1.69 and a real bargain. (was going to say they were brilliant but a torch that wasn't wouldn't be a lot of good)

Richard.

My new friend arrived yesterday. She (don't want people getting the wrong idea!) is really really nice:).
And really really, no REALLY, bright. She's my new little star.

@ROB1CHELSEA1
Thanks for heads up. Really good deal. Might be tempted with xmas coming up and nephews liking shiny things.

And yes, I know I need to get out more:D

PAH !

Mine arrived last week. £6. It came with an 18650 battery which I've never owned before. Lithium. Rechargeable. Wow.

That battery would fit the other torch in MH.

Order another battery - yes.
Need to charge them, charger - yes.
Oh that looks good, a USB charge meter - yes.

So £6 torch and £18 to complete the purchase.

Now that's man's logic.

Do a google search on the torch in the advert,it gets loads of bad reviews .Its no better than the sub £10 ones from china. The picture of it lighting up the building is fake as are the makers claims ,including the one about being used by the US military.
I remember the good old days when we didn't have to look at such adverts ,can't we have an ignore the advert button ?
