I got one of these a while ago and haven't bothered using it before today.

Anyway, the site we're on the reception varies grealty (using the old saucer Status aerial). 1st day 30 odd channels, later in the day 60 or so.

Earlier couldn't get any at all so dug out the Avtex, stuck it on the roof and in through the window.
Voila - 102 channels straight away.

Time to make a mount for it that is easy to set up me thinks.

Theres just been a gentle "thump". Guess the suction cup doesn't work so well on the roof.

Still perfect picture though

We switched to one of these from a Stratus that went up through the roof on a pole on our previous van, tried both side by side and the STH3000 won out every time as good picture and much easier to find channels, most of the time it did not even have to go outside the van. So when we changed we kept the STH and did not bother with the Stratus.

I agree, the suckers on these are very poor indeed and let down an otherwise excellent product. You will have to find some other form of mounting to use it to best advantage. I was able to make a mount that fixed to my solar panels that solved the problem for us... but one more thing to remember before driving off!

My cousin has machined a piece of aluminium to fit the mounting and fixed it to a pole. He then uses some spring clams to clip the pole to his bike rack. Very neat and effective.
Unfortunately I don't have a rack I can fix to so am looking for alternatives.

One I'm considering is sitting it on top of the saucer spike - only problem is I'm not tall enough.

We have one and find it excellent, even in the Lake District surrounded by hills we still managed 12 channels with some careful alignment when people with the roof mounted round and triangular ones were getting nothing at all

Since 1996, had Elddis/Swift/Rapido/Rimor/Chausson MHs. Autocruise/Globecar PVCs/Compactline i-138
You can get second hand ones on Ebay - the 1000 version is 12v, the 2000 version is 24v and the 3000 version is 12v and 24v and also apparently has extra 'gubbings' to make it less susceptible to 4G phone signal interference.

If you have a non-Avtex TV you need the power supply with it (which should be with it anyway), if you have an Avtex TV though you don't need this as it takes the power via the TV's aerial socket.

I take it you've looked which way others aerials are pointing?

It's trial and error then as it depends on where the nearest transmitter is.

You have to only make very small adjustments though and remember you need to retune the tv !!

A signal meter helps but not if you don't have one.
Try it the other side of the van.

If its a avtex tv put power on. You don't need to power it via cig socket as well

You can get free apps for your phone to help setting the direction.
I use UK Aerial Alignment on my Android phone... I'm sure Apple has similar

Works for me.

I've got the earlier type and it came with a bracket with U bolts and I fix this to the extending washing brush pole and tie it to the rear ladder or bike rack.

In the TV SET UP do I have antennae power on or off ?
Use antenna on and there should be a 12v booster that came with it (input/output for aerial) you need to use this but you will need to 12v sockets nearby (TV and Booster) only needed if not on EHU
When on EHU it doesn't matter as the TV provides the powered output
