I'm looking at this route but can't see a total driving time,am I missing the obvious ?
I don't mind a lengthy drive and want to get over the border to Empuriabrava in Spain .
We arrive in france at 6 on Sunday evening and I don't mind a stint behind the wheel untill about twelve where would I get to , approx how much driving time untill final destination ?
Assuming I'm doing a steady 70 ,asfter all fuels cheaper over there so and I'm on Uk time and not worried about the saving .

It says 1200 km which equates to 745 miles, so at say 70 mph as much as possible that's less than 11 hours but in reality I seriously doubt that would be the case!

I've just put your departure and arrival points on the RAC route planner and without tolls it is saying 15 hours 11 mins, 762 miles, but using tolls roads it comes out at 10 hours 45 mins and 745 miles, obviously this is using ALL the available toll roads.

How much did it cost though for the tolls?

Thanks all so far ,I know toll roads are faster and expensive ,I also know a mix of tolls and non tolls can be an hour or two longer but can save you a fortune .
What I need is specific advice relating to the journey ,I suppose the Benidorm lot may have a good idea or perhaps @tonka could help ,( how do I turn his name blue ,without swearing)

Oh I'm not sure .. we did the tolls on the way back too because we prefer them .. I think it cost 250 quid or so.. (we get the bill a month later) but we meandered about on the way back.
We just don't mind paying the toll charges so we don't pay too much attention to the cost as it's just so easy with a tag.

Edit: I've just checked. £184.52 for the entire period away.

The route takes you through the centre of Rouen, the road between Dreux and Chartres is not the greatest, and you either have to go through Chartres or around a ring road with numerous roundabouts. The road is relatively straightforward once you have done it a couple of times. It is easy to take the wrong road if new and in a hurry. I would think that you should be looking for a stopping place from Orleans onward.
We are going early morning (0900 arrival French time Monday) and are aiming to reach La Canourgue by 2000hr (probably stop for 3x20min) which is about 4.5hr from Roses.
Refuelling can be done on the A75 take exit 12 at the nearby Issoire Carrefour there is a McD if you want a coffee/burger/free wifi.
The A75 goes over the Central Massif and as the route says "It is a mountain motorway that rises on 3 occasions to over 1100 metres and has several long and relatively steep gradients." Unless you have a lightly laden 3 litre PVC you will struggle to maintain never mind average 70.
I would suggest total time would be 13-14hr driving quite hard.

Earlier this year toll cost Calais to Spanish border was exactly €139 on my Sanef account. Whilst expensive it is so much more relaxing than using non toll roads. Class 2 rates.
At that price it's a no brainier ,I'm happy to pay tolls just looking for a good route from a seasoned traveller as there are so many options .
Which way did you go,do ?

Calais to Rouen, Le Mans, Tours, Poitiers, Bordeaux then to Spanish border.

You can save a bit by taking the non toll road from Poitiers to Bordeaux via Angouleme. Not a bad road with quite a bit of dual carriageway but some single sections where you can get stuck behind trucks.

Apologies, I have just realised that your destination is on the Costa Brava, I go to the Costa Blanca. So, you could follow my route initially, which avoids Paris, then at Poitiers head for Limoges, Toulouse, Narbonne and Perpignan. It's about 60 miles longer than the Paris route but in my opinion worth it. I don't like the Evreux, Dreux, Chartes route at all, too many islands, rough roads etc.

I will try and check the toll costs on the route.

We did the other side of Paris.
Dunkirk
Reimes
Troyes
Orleans
Clermont Ferrand
Then the A75 to Belize then on to Barcelona.

4 days......but we were in no rush so long as we hit Barcelona on the allotted date..
It can, allegedly, be done in 20 hours.

I take it I need to select the caravan option to make it classe 2 ,can't see a motorhome option and the tolls. One way comes in at over 200 euros .
Is that right ?

Thanks pappajohn as I'm further up than Barcelona the apparent 20 hrs makes me think I could do it over 2 days.

Agreed.
We only drove 5 to 6 hours per day and never excessively fast.
Took about the same to come back from Castillon via Andorra and Limoges then more or less the same route in the link.

Only hit two tolls.....Millau viaduct and the road from the Spanish border to Barcelona....at which we got waved straight through the toll station free of charge.

Hi Vlad,

You are looking at the total cost of fuel and tolls, if you look a bit further down the page you will see the toll cost at circa €70 for Class 1. If you add about 50% (Ithink?) you will get the approximate cost for Class 2.

well last time ,From Cherbourg to Salamanca ,it took about 2 weeks or so,but we stopped just where we felt like. From Salamanca,we found that if we hurried a bit we could be in Porto easily in a week. It got a bit hectic after that because we had left Cherbourg in October and we needed to be in Tavira by Christmas! So we had to motor on to get there, but we normally do not hurry so much..
