Don't normally need to resize, I do as it makes uploading quicker.
I use Microsoft Office Picture Manager, Google's Picasa also works well.

It's as easy as Control-R - resize.
S - save as - save the reduced sized file.

And it does so much more as well.

The forum software resizes large image files.
A bit slow though.
You must be doing something else wrong...Maybe wrong file type.

If you have Microsoft Paint, (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Paint) open your picture with it. Then Home->Resize.
Select By Percentage, change the horizontal and vertical percentages from 100 to maybe 50 or 25. Then click OK
Then either Save (to overwrite the original with the reduced version) or Save As (to give it a new filename and save it separately).

It's a good idea to copy the file first, and work on the copy, in case you don't like the results.

I had a problem uploading pictures, and ended up having to disable the VPN to allow uploads.

We do reduce the size when you upload. BUT its a bit of a coarse algorithm. If quality is important then it's best to reduce in your graphics program first. (y)

I altered the size of pictures on my galaxy phone. They were around 2 mb but now they are around 400kb much easier to upload but no difference viewing, except if you need to print them.

I use 'Fast Image Resizer' free download, this one. I know we don't always have to resize, but it is a lot easier on those poor beggars like me who have such a poor internet speed that it make viewing much faster.

It's also a lot kinder to funsters on the move, who are paying for data download by the Megabyte. I always avoid 'Photo of the Day' when travelling!
