We have the above fridge and after lighting the gas, the igniter keeps clicking and light flashing.
Got a nice steady blue flame.
Any ideas please ?

Sounds like the thermocouple is faulty and thinks the flame has gone out thus firing the igniter constantly.

my flame was lit [and no clicking] but the fridge was not very cold
gas fitter said the flame wasn't 'roaring'
a good flame will have a slight roar when listened to from outside
new jet and all is well, roaring away(y)

might be a weak flame as has been mentioned, the fridge thinking the flame has gone out and clicking

Thanks for the replies. Checked all the wiring and nothing seems adrift.
I'm thinking along the lines of flame not being strong enough even though it's nice and blue.
What's the best way to clean the burner ?
What's your thoughts @Terry ?

A Woosh bang
If the thermocouple was faulty i.e. not seeing the flame, the gas valve would NOT stay open..

if the flame was weak and the thermocouple wasn't 'seeing' the flame... same result.. gas valve would close ..

If the flame stays lit, the thermocouple is fine - it has no effect on the ignition circuit.

the ignition circuit detects the flame is lit from the spark electode, and if flame goes out, say due to wind, it sparks to reignite. Eventually if it fails to reignite, the thermocouple cools down and the gas valve is shut.

This fault lies with the electronic control for the ignition

But of an update to confuse matters even more. When the burner is lit and I've got a stable flame, if I tap the burner with a screwdriver the clicking stops.
If I turn it off and re light clicking continues again.

That's my plan of attack when I get home from work.

connected but not connected!

I have a loverly little folding caravan that has an old electrolux fridge in it, as good as the day it was built [1985] [take note dometic!]
It wouldn't keep cold, but had a flame visible, I nearly discounted it as been past it, due to its age
On a whim I pulled it out , and found a dead moth, lying over the jet! after a poking with a cocktail stick and vacuuming it runs better than ever

Why don't they make fridges like this one any more?

I have a similar fridge but the problem is that when the gas is turned off at the bottle and fridge put to 12 volts it continues to click until fridge is turned off and turned on again. Any ideas?

If it is auto fridge, it may still look for a gas supply after the engine is switched off. Off and on again is just like a reset. Mine does this if I leave the gas off and stop for a while. It is a reminder to switch on the gas or switch off the fridge.

I've cleaned everything and cleaned all wires but still no joy.
I'm beginning to think it could be the gas igniter. If I remove the earth wire from igniter the spark stops and if I put wire back on with flame lit clicking doesn't restart until it's turned off and back on.
Just like to know for certain it is that. Don't want to shell out £60 if it's not faulty.

All sorted. It was a faulty spark igniter. I fitted a new electrode while I was at it.
I can highly recommend Leisure Shop Direct. Ordered parts Monday and they arrived today. Five minutes to fit them and all working correctly.
Thanks for your replies.
