we have had a number of lovely holidays boating on the Broads, and want to explore more of Norfolk. Have booked for a week from 21st July at Two Mills, North Walsham between Broads and coast. Splahing out as it is our wedding anniversary and my birthday while we are away. Any recommendations for day visits along the coast where we can park our 6 metre motorhome?

Cromer town centre or cliff top car parks should be no problem,as far as I know all park and ride sites for Norwich are o/k.Gt Yarmouth sea front north end is fine,Blickling hall, hey the list goes on.Best just go wherever you want and if you can't park move on,Norfolk isn't unwelcoming (unless your'e from Suffolk) Enjoy your stay!

Happy holidays ,wedding anniversary and Birthday celebrations! :bday::drinks::birthday:
We visit Norfolk regularly and there is plenty to do. We have driven our van into Norwich and use the park and ride near the airport no barrier and park right over in the corner . Plenty to do and see and eat in the city!
Rob wanted to do the tank museum 'Muckleburgh Collection ' I sat in the carpark and as it was sunny read a book outside in the sun for 2 hours while he had a great time in the place playing on the tanks!!:sun:
Enjoy!

Us Suffolk people do find that the standard greeting at the border is a mob with pitchforks and flaming torches......

Any recommendations for day visits along the coast where we can park our 6 metre motorhome?

Our MH is also 6m and our favourite spot is Burnham Overy Staithe: follow the one-way system and park on The Hard. It IS a bit bumpy and it DOES flood at some high tides but you have lovely views over the river & marshes, boat or walk to the beach (continue along the Norfolk Coastal footpath in either direction; catch the Coasthopper bus back?). It is also FREE!!

Similar views are to be had from Morston Quay (NT), which doesn't flood. Catch a boat to see the seals.
Likewise Blakeney (NT).

It's Carnival Week at Wells Next The Sea (which is approx 1mile from the coast!) so check the www for details: FREE entertainment every night (collection for charity) to say nothing of activities throughout the day PLUS a lovely little town (but getting over-run by the Chelsea Brigade). Parking could be a problem but not for us: we'll be staying on a CCC THS within easy walking distance for approx £10pn (limited facilities but all we need is water & drainage).

There are a couple of RSPB Reserves and Norfolk Wildlife Trust has a lovely visitor centre just outside Cley, with ample parking.

Sheringham Park (NT) has good parking, lovely walks and superb views from some of Norfolk's highest mountains. ;)
Blickling Hall & Felbrigg Hall (both NT) are worth a visit.

You can park on the cliff tops at Hunstanton for views across the Wash to Boston: it is one of the few places around the North Norfolk coast where you can actually sit free of charge and see the sea.

Have a good holiday - Gordon

Wait till we build "The great wall of Norfolk"....Keep dem buggers out.
We will give you lot a hand to build it, but would guess that Norfolk people are all generously endowed in the hand department - us Suffolk people are just generously endowed....:whistle2:

Seriously, lots of nice places to visit in Norfolk.....

This is great info. We're at Ely for a couple of nights, then off to Stiffkey for the rest of the week. It was all very last-minute. We had planned on going to the Yorkshire Dales for a week, but we noticed the M6 was partially closed today, so decided to come east instead - without having chance to do much research.

Take care driving through Stiffkey, very narrow, especially if the numpties who won't walk are parked in the street.

Pushing the NT theme: Oxburgh Hall is one of the smaller properties in Norfolk (unlike Blickling & Felbrigg) but it is a HOME (surrounded by a moat, gardens and pasture). Well worth a visit, especially if you are sufficiently mobile to crawl into the Priest Hole.

Why not look in at a favourite of mine, Houghton Hall. It's between Fakenham and Kings Lynn just off the A148

http://www.houghtonhall.com/

A fabulous Palladian pile and gardens with an unusual herd of white fallow deer

Not surprised really, there are too many luvvies in the area, none of them know how to drive or park, and they think they own the road, whereas everybody knows I do !!
The street was not designed for the size of the vehicles used today, nor the volume of traffic. Even in winter, we used to have the places to ourselves, not anymore I'm afraid.
