Hi all,:hiya: Finally made the plunge and subscribed, so I can join the fun on the forums! We have had Mo, (autotrail Mohican 07) since last October. We have stayed in her several times now but only in the UK and have sorted various little problems, now we are off to Europe for 16 days. we are planning to cross via the tunnel and then travel to Bruges, on to Valkenburg and have tickets to the Andre Rieu concert in Maastricht!! yeay.... then going on in to Germany ..planning to see castle Elzt staying in Cochem, and then a couple of days in Luxembourg before travelling back through France via Nancy. Anyone got any helpful ideas on where to stay? Particularly on our first night- we are through the tunnel at around midnight. I have thought about trying Gravelines but am abit concerned about arriving at 1am and disturbibg folk, also what if it's full:confused: Suggestions would be appreciated(y)

Why not just go round the corner to Cite Europe.
Loads of space, you won't disturb anyone and it's free.
You can nip over to Carrefour in the morning for supplies and there is a fuel station close by.

Hi and welcome to FUN, there's a lovely Aire just north of Nancy at Pont A Mosson on the banks of the Moselle with water, electricity, toilets and showers. Number 54700 in All the Aires book. (y)

Don't worry aires near the port seem to have comings and goings at all times of day and night as folks go for ferries. It's never disturbed us and we met someone who stayed 2 weeks at the aire in Calais harbour it was their holiday spot!( not for me but one night is okay)

Ignore the above just re read your thread you are doing the tunnel !!!

I wasn't sure whether it was still OK to stay at Cite europe with the problems at calais...does everyone still think it's a safe option?

Absolutely nothing wrong with Cite Europe car park.

Always plenty of space, level tarmac, well lit throughout the night, free, supermarket and shops at 50m, 14 restaurants, Flunch open 'til 9.30, some free wifi, toilets and the records show it to be a gassing-free zone.

.......... and no sign of swarthy faces lurking in the undergrowth :)

We've stayed there 4-5 times since last November and never seen a 'swarthy face', at least, not one to worry about. ;):)

Hi You need two main books to cover all of France and Germany for a start. Get All the Aires France and Bord Atlas for Germany and a lot of Europe. We full timed for over 7 years and only used campsites in spain. It will be the best £40 you ever spent.

Cite de Europe for first night would be my suggestion. Valkenburg is really good if you are staying at Camping Den Dresch you will need to approach from down hill, do not try to turn left as you go up the hill (there is a roundabout about 1km past the entrance) as it is too tight...

Sorry to contradict but I think co-ordinates for Cité Europe are wrong. Should be 50.932875, 1.811100 or 50°55'58.4"N 1°48'40.0"E depending on what Sat Nav format you are using.
The original co-ordinates would put you in the English Channel!
