just wondered whether any funster can advise whether it is possible for a non-techy can seal up a hairline crack before calling out the "specialists"?
Is there any type of sealant available that could be easily applied and work well?
If not, I will have to call them in... have been given the name of Speedcoat as specialists in this field.
Thanks.

If you are looking for a quick bodge type repair? I removed my shower tray and reinforced it using fibreglass/resin on the back side. Doesn't give you a new looking repair on top but makes it solid enough so that the cracks don't spread any further and seals it from behind to prevent leaks.

If its just in the recess around the plug hole before the main flat area of the tray you can affect a repair by taking out the drain and fitting a white plastic washer underneath with plenty of Sikaflex under it, the washer needs to be the size of the recess in the tray.

A photo might help.

Try Captain Tolleys Creeping Crack Cure, available mail order, I can't post the link as I am using a tablet but a search should find it. About £8 + postage....worth a try.

Captain Tolleys is a waste of time.........if there is any movement at all the crack will open up.Thats why it needs support and then sealing.

I did a temp. repair using an two part epoxy adhesive..

rough it up a little and lay the adhesive into and around the crack.. not the prettiest of jobs but not seen under the shower mat..

a 'proper' repair was offered by Becks.. but I haven't had time (read cant be bothered) to take it to them,.. they said it took a whole day to do..

In times past I've also tried using the tip of a soldering iron to weld the crack..

We had speedcoat come to our house and did a fantastic job as it was going to costs hundreds to replace the shower base and he matched the colour grey . It is slightly textured but much stronger than before.

Since 2011, previously a tugger
I used fibreglass matting and resin on a 6 inch crack running along the gully to the drain. Once over painted white it hardly shows. Seems pretty strong now...time will tell.

We had it done in Sept 2014 and was on insurance but the company was Caratec ( it would have been £190 ) but to replace the shower and all that entailed would have been £500+ !!!

I've just been quoted £325 by Speedcoat.
(A fellow mh owner had it done for that sort of price too.)
Thanks to all.
