Hi, have been using Zenmate for the past couple of years, I am not satisfied with their support following a double billing refund. Any recommendations for a VPN either pay or free.

I definitely need new glasses.
I read your title as VPL and was going to recommend Spanx or M&S Magic knickers ( if they still sell them)

Not long enough, but a little common sense helps..........
I use www.smartdnsproxy.com and they are great for VPN and receiving UK TV like BBC iPlayer via their Smart DNS service. Used for 3 years now and 100% perfect.

Avast. (y) Broken Link Removed (y) You can also support it with the other Avast product and they all work well together.

Hi Martin,

I've been using CyberGhost for the last 6 months with no issues. It was a Christmas special - maybe £40 for the year?

PS What is VPL?

I have been using Hotspot Shield for a couple of years or more. Around £20pa and a choice of multiple servers around the world. Seems pretty stable and reliable.

+1 for hotspot shield , cost about £25 per year and been flawless , you can connect up to 5 devices using it and choose what country you want to appear in :) and good speed as i use it for the house to stream content.

If you want a VPN so as to appear in the UK and you have a internet connection at home that is working whilst you are away then you can setup your own VPN. It depends on your router (sadly most will not support being a VPN server) and how connected but it may work and is as reliable as your own connection and costs no extra. I do this with a Draytek router at home, once setup it is easy to use and can connect via phone tablet and laptop.

The Netgear Nighthawk routers come with OpenVPN, plenty of guides on how to set them up on line.

Having a Paid version of a VPN is going to be an advantage over the router type set up.
While we travel around in our motorhomes we can log on and use campsite or other source wifi for our secure connections. Our phones and tablets all have the VPN now installed.....on a recent Hospital stay in Spain (Private) wifi was available which allowed me to connect to sites which would normally be unavailable.

Not entirely certain but if your devices have the capabiliy then accessing a paid or home router vpn should be no different.

The advantages I see of the paid versions are that you can pretend to be in a variety of countries and if something goes wrong with it there maybe something that can be done about it.

Advantages for the home router setup,, no additional costs, access to your home network.
