Has anyone changed their small fuel tank for a larger one? I know weights and what have you, but the range is quite disappointing on the 2.8 Maclouis. If anyone can direct me towards a supplier I would be very grateful

Where on earth would you put it? There isn't any extra space where the existing one is.

Google ducato long range fuel tank. Seems standard 85 litre can be replaced with 125 litre tank, think it might have been a fiat option.

An option when ordering the base vehicle from the factory.

Retrofitting one is likely to be a much less straightforward.

Thanks for the replies, £69 to fill after 25 miles on warning light, seems a small capacity tank?

Possibly 60 litres then, 315 miles = approx 23 m.p.g
Yes thankyou for confirming, did not want to divulge the mpg for that reason- I worked it out at 22 - 24 depends how I drive.

I think my tank last year was 70-75L. Ist fill down France last year 417miles in A'trail Tracker, filled up 67.53L so 28.07mpg. Ok I had the 2.3 engine but I had a 2.8 years ago that gave over 30mpg on long runs. 315miles is very poor on any full tank and I would suspect a problem somewhere. Just my opinion.

That might be why you have space then. If for some reason a smaller one than standard has been fitted you will have space for the standard 85 litre one.

Definitely not a DIY job though unless you know exactly what you're doing (y)
Yes I ll know what I'll be doing cheers for your replies

I've been trawling through the forum and for a 2.8 Fiat 3500kgs 25 mpg seems fine ?

There's a post of the fiat forum which discusses this.
A guy in Oz had his tank changed by the dealership to a long range tank (125l)
Someone else goes on to say that his motorhome was fitted with a 60l tank but the standard size for his chassis type would have been 85/90l.

I'd buy a Jerry can if you're concerned about running out of want to carry more fuel - it would be a lot cheaper and less hassle with configuring / accuracy of the gauge etc.

Yes quite, just a thought saving on brake pads not having to fill up so often

Are you sure the gauge is not faulty. How would you know if you are not filling it up when the tank is still a quarter full.
I used to get around 400 miles - ie around 100 miles per quarter tank reading on the fuel gauge.
I used to see about 28-30MPG on a good day

Who said I was filling up from 1/4 of a tank? I said the warning light had been on for over 20 miles the gauge on the floor, I was not going to travel any further to check accuracy of the gauge

That's not what I said. How can you tell if the tank is empty if the gauge is reading wrong? I'm not having a go, just a thought. Have a look under another MH and compare physical sizes.

£69 at £1.10 per litre is approx 14 gallons (62 ltr)
14 gallons per 315 miles = 22.5mpg

I would say you have a 70litre tank and the gauge is inaccurate.
22mpg is about right.
Standard ducato tank used to be 70liters
