Mine (2011 150 multijet) took just under 6 litres last week with filter change as well.
Spot on the mark on dipstick. Manual says 5.9 litres including filter. Page 263 Fiat handbook, same as yours should be.

11yrs, but many years a tugger.
Also, remember when oil changing, you never get it all out, so a measure of the old oil is left behind. :emo:

Changed my 07 2.3 Peugeot oil a while ago it's dead on full on the dipstick but the thing on the dash that comes up with your oil level in a number of rings now says high sometimes. Don't know why as it is random doesn't seem to matter wheather it's level on the ground or what.

i will have to recheck the fiat service book because i'm sure it said 6.5 ltrs would the engine retain 1/2 ltr of old oil ? now ive put in 6 ltrs it looks as if there is too much oil in the engine.

Yes , even more so if it wasn't red hot when you emptied it. To get a true reading after refilling you need to wait hours. When you refilled it you should wait & check before ever starting the engine.Once started you'll need to wait hours again.

With modern low viscosity oils there is no need to wait so long.
20 mins is more than enough for it to settle sufficiently to see the level.

It's not critical to be at the top of the dipstick
It's there to show the range of oil level that is satisfactory from min to max
So no need to be hasty !
Just carry a pint in your door pocket for topping up , overfilling is not desirable

Surely not the people who throw good oil away every year regardless of mileage
I'd rather change the filter every year and keep the oil

yes i did change the oil filter as well ! and the engine was hot when i drained it! then left to drain with oil filter removed, for a couple of hours, the dip stick has smears of oil all up the dipstick even hours after refilling making it difficult to read or get a level reading from it.

I had a mate who bought a new works van & religiously changed the oil & filter every month. It went in, & came out, looking like Golden Syrup.

Daft question, but you are wiping the dipstick with a cloth before dipping ?

If you have a tyre pump or small compressor, use it to blow down the dipstick tube to clear residual oil
NOTE I said blow (Draught) down,--- don't create any pressure in the engine
wait 2 to 3 mins wipe stick and dip
