You know when you go to the Opticians and they charge you over £100 for a little bit of bent metal with a couple of tiny hinges attached. Then they charge you extra to get the lenses put in ?

Well, I have just discovered that the motortrade equivilent is wiper blades !!!

Wanted a new wiper blade for our MH, went to the local motorfactors and was charged £7-20p for a new one. Which had the wrong attachment, could not stay on the wiper arm. So took it back where they tried to tell me it would fit and obviously I was incompetent !!! So got my money back.

I know, I'll go to Halfords, may pay a slight amount more, but hey ho. Guess how much ?? £39 !!!!!!!

Fit it free ?? Fit it free ?? For £39 I'd expect gold plated wiper arms thrown in !!!

Anyway, old one is back on for now and I'll check out some more places next week, where they might accept an instalment plan or a part-exchange for one of the children !

There is so much differance in wiperblades.
We can buy them here from €2:99
I have tried alsorts
The cheap ones from China are rubbish they dont wipe very well are noisy.
And fall too pieces after a few weeks.
I have just put two on my daugters Citroën C4 from the dealer.
So much beter worth the €35 each IMO.
Try passing a truck with cheap wippers when its raining hard.

I know your pain. Was in a hurry for two blades due to frost damage, went there and got screwed on a grand scale.

I'd normally use ebay.

I bought cheap ones on eBay.. absolute waste of money .. good blades are not cheap.. and Halfords offer a good service, and a no quibble return policy for all spares.. including leisure batteries... which are good quality and value..

granted, not the cheapest but you can find one in every major town or city..

We had to have a pair fitted at a Fiat commercial vehicle dealership in Italy a couple of years ago.. Chap was REALLY embarrassed at the cost !!
55 € !!
we had tried many other places first but the 07 plate Fiat it is based on seems to be a total one off and not one of the generic fit all widgets went anywhere near fitting !
Even the genuine Fiat ones had to be modified.. and it took the poor sode almost an hour to get them on ..
As he was working we chatted ( as much as my crap Italian and his equally crap English would allow.. )

Camapa car.. She are UK yes ?

Yes....

Ahhhh

Fiat send all merda to UK !!!!!

Well thanks pal ! LOL !!!

Have you considered wiper blades to refil your current wiper arms? That would reduce the cost.

When I went to Halfords for wipers for my car they didn'thave my car on their list. When I enquired why they said, 'Manufacturer part only' so Renault can charge through the nose!

£11 per pair for reasonable quality blades that will last one year equates to a running cost of circa 10p per blade per week . . . . seems value for money to me :)

used to buy Bosch ones for all the cars I bought at auction to sell.. They were always only just fit for purpose.. You would think a firm like Bosch would sell a bit of quality but it aint so ( unless of course it is a different Bosch ? )

I bought a new drivers side one from local FIAT dealership last year cost £15. We lost the end on the original, I think I knocked it off taking the silver screens off.

Just had two fitted at the local garage on our C4 cost forty quid unlike the Citroen dealers who charged 52 pounds three years ago.

HALFORDS...... Dick Terpins town residence.

In desperation I had to buy brake fluid and Halfrauds were the only option at the time.
500ml.....£9-99

later went to a local factors to get new pads and bought another 1000ml.....£5-49 + VAT.

I pay £2-49 per blade from a local general stores motoring dept and replace every autumn.
Even the 26" RV blades were only £2-99.

don't last a month here , whatever they are. I use hong kong fueys top quality 2,75€ wipers & some never ever see rain before they are changed. The dust here will damage them in no time.
I did try decent ones once & could have bought 10 sets from the chinese as they were gone just as quick. Now I just by them at the chinese & change when one leaves a mark . I normally keep 4 or 5 sets at home .Same on the van.

Got some recently from "Mills Auto Factors" for about the same price, as you say, use 'em for a year then give 'em the flick.

Why do we still have wiper blades? In over 75 years of motoring -- no one has developed a better way of clearing the screen than bits of rubber being pushed across the glass

You've got confused Alan - it's the half a potato that you put in your jar/tin of tobacco, to remoisten it when the dry heat from the hypocaust has dried it out too much!
