We are having to replace our fridge vent and surround as we stupidly left the winter cover on and used it on gas for a whole weekend.

We have the replacement parts but need some advice on which sealant/adhesive to use so would welcome any suggestions.

Are you saying that it overheated the vent and surround?

Anyway I would say put it back on with a non setting mastic which I imagine the original one will be on with when you remove it, the easiest to use is the mastic tape but either will do.

We've had our fridge on gas with the vents on many times and not had a problem, what happened?

Not sure why it happened but the grille is distorted at the top right hand corner and the surround is also distorted on the same place. Should have taken a picture of it before posting it but the van is in storage so not always accessible.

Sounds like the top of your flue is directed the wrong way . Should be fine with covers on they still allow air flow

We won't be able to get to the storage before Thursday afternoon when we are going to Newbury. I'll take a photo and post it so that you can see. Thanks for your replies.
