Looking at the implosion of commodity demand, I think we will see oil under $40 a barrel for a while which is good news on the fuel price front but very bad news indeed for the global economy

We are off to Croatia this weekend via Belgium, Germany, Austria, etc.
Does anyone know of a good place to fill up with fuel on the Calais to Bruges, Ghent road ? Service stations charge too much.

Have a look at http://www.prix-carburants.gouv.fr/ . Click on the green 'Gazole' (if you want diesel?) box on the left of the page and then on the Department you want (probably 62 or 59 in your case). This will give you the current prices at the filling stations in that Department and a location map.
Looks like the LeClerk at Dunkirk is € 1.054/litre at the moment.

Nearest Leclerc are 1.089 and 1.098 - driving to Belgium to fill up seems a case of penny wise, pound foolish (for me anyway)

Does anybody know why diesel keeps creeping up in price when oil prices are so low, our local ASDA is £106.9 for petrol at the moment, goverment greed/rip off I assume, I cannot see any justification for it.

I totally agree, the 99p litre didn't last long did it? Seems to be going up a penny a week round here with Tesco the highest price @ 106.99p

Yes,
on the 21 Jan '16 Brent crude oil was $27.52 a barrel the exchange rate was $1.4171 to the pound. Which means you would have to take £19.42 out of your pocket to buy a barrel of crude.
Yesterday the figures were $47.75 a barrel and $1.4428 to the pound meaning a barrel of crude now costs £33.10.

That rise from £19.42 to £33.1 is a rise of 70% - go figure:eek:

No free Ferry code for this Funster to be then . . . . :)

We don't get " offers" going from europe to UK.& any "offer" codes don't normally work for travel into UK either.

yip.. and we have roads that don't wreck tyres and suspensions..

I must find all the rougher ones then .:D

& the problem is ?? The linking of the price to the american dollar.

No, the problem is prices take months to fall and milliseconds to shoot back up!

Also bear in mind that little of the price at the pump is the cost of crude. A 70% rise in crude makes less than a 10% rise at the pump.
