I have an 2010 Autocruise pvc based on the x250 fiat Ducato (130 Multijet) and am looking for a way to disarm or quiet down the lock/unlock warning beep. I have found a thread for the fiat multipla which says to reset the alarm sequence to #4 Switzerland but the instructions given are a bit vague - I can't even find the switch under the bonnet that is referred to. Can anyone help please before I have to spend readies at the local Fiat main agent? I like to lock the van at night and am thinking of the neighbors when on site being woken up to me taking the dogs out at 6am.

For someone called Attilla you are very considerate ... to be honest I wouldn't worry ... I am woken by far more annoying things than an alarm beep... part of being on a site .. and there are far worse sins. Don't cut yourselfbup about it sunshine. Relax and let the little un have his morning wee in peace. X

Thanks, though just to confuse you my lovely husband signed in as me (Attila) I'm very hard of hearing & dog's completely deaf so we aren't at all bothered about the beep, though I must say it must be loud if I can hear it! My gorgeous chief driver is the considerate one (got to do some crawling else it might be me that has to walk the dog at 6.0 a.m.!)

If you quieten the beep you might not hear your alarm if you were being broken into. I expect to hear noises when on site and 6am isnt that bad. I would leave the alarm as it is.

The beep is a feature of the alarm rather than a fiat thing.
Try contacting an installer for your make of alarm. We can turn the beep on/off on ours but some either can't or need to be done by an installer.
What make is the alarm?

I think making the beep quieter or off is a decent considerate thing to do. I would not like to be woken by someone's loud beep at 6 am and I would like to quieten my own beep because I too think it right to have some consideration for my neighbours. I don't let my dog bark continually, I don't play my music loudly and I expect people to have the same consideration for me. I think it's wrong to ignore or not worry about it. I applaud the OP' sentiments and would like to think others might share them.

I like the fact that you are considerate and want to do this. Good luck in finding a way to do it (y)

I can give a few suggestions but the dog lovers on here won't appreciate them ;)
Don't worry about it.. At 5am I'm sure I've had the same thoughts.. He only does it when we are out in the van. Apparently you should ignore it but that is pretty hard to do if you don't want to annoy the neighbours..

ive parked next to vans with alarms and sliding doors, both make a noise when they are used, but I wouldn't worry, as long as you don't constantly arm and disarm the alarm.
People don't expect absolute silence on a site, if they did, they should park alone or go on a retreat somewhere.

Try training it not to or at least to stop when told to be quiet. A biscuit in the mouth makes it difficult to bark. You could join a local training class if you cannot manage alone and it's a great way of socialising the dog and a bit of fun for you. Ignoring it is the wrong advice.

I HATE sliding doors with a passion, yet still accept them as part of motorhoming.
Like your beep it is just something folk tend to ignore..
Stop worrying about it would be my advice :)

Live and let live .. enough people in the world deliberately disrupt our lives. . You are not one of them. Jaws is right... stop worrying and enjoy your breaks and park next to people who bring sunshine and acceptance to your lives so you arn't walking on egg shells. Hope to see you at a meet soon. You can park next to me any day .. but my window sticker says no miserable people allowed. :)

Me too bloody sliding doors drive me nuts.
Why do they have to be opened and shut once a minute is it the law?
And if you're Spanish until 2am

Don't worry about it.

Making an alarm more discreet kind of defeats the object. You want it to be as obvious as possible to deter any scrotes that may be lurking around.

Is it every day without fail at 5am when he's in the van?

If so he's possibly got it into his head that he's meant to be doing it for some reason.

Another possibility is daylight. How dark is your van with the blinds and everything shut? Especially at this time of year he could be seeing the sunlight and just telling you that you've overslept.

What's all this silly talk about 5am & 6am when in the Motorhome rarely wake much before 9am and that's only because the French usually insist on having a conversation right outside my van.:)

Would rather have cockerels next to me than a sliding door I can sleep through them we have a couple ourselves.:)

Don't park next to me then. Me and the dogs are usually up at 6 or 6.30 whether at home or in the van (y):D

Our Strikeback alarm wot that geezer @eddievanbitz fitted for us flashes the side light when arming and disarming, much more civilised than a beep. Mind you I'd much rather have a beep than an effing sliding door or awning zip.:mad::mad:

Our Autowatch alarm has a quiet button, press it before arming/disarming then it does it silently.

It happened for the first time the weekend just gone both mornings. I think daylight is the issue as our rooflights don't have curtains or blinds. He also loves the van so I'm guessing if he's up he wants us up too.

We have 10 nights in the van coming up in Jersey so we have to crack it.

He is instantly quiet when he gets our attention but I don't want him to think getting us up when it gets light is good. We like our lie in at the weekend and at home it is gone 9 before he tells us he needs a wee.

We pick up new pup on Friday as well.. what are we doing :D

I guess an easy thing to try first is to black out the van as much as you can and see if that helps/cures it.

Ours tend to tell us that it's time to get up when they're in the van but never do at home. It's no big deal for me though because I'm an early riser anyway and they don't do it any earlier than I would normally get up. Ours love the van too and associate it with having fun so you could be right about why yours is doing it.

Two pups together is the best thing. There's only about a year between ours. It's great (y):D
