Hi all.

We are planning to use the Canterbury park and ride for one nights stop over next week. If it is full can anyone suggest an alternative stop over for one night only?

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

The pub next door has let us park overnight in their car park if we bought a meal.

If desperate there's a wide set back lay-by down the A2 towards Dover, next to Kent Motorcycles. Truckers use it, and we have too.

Marine Parade at Dover? Presuming it's still possible to stay there overnight.

There are also some motorhome spaces in the coach park in Canterbury, the draw back is that it is much more expensive at £15 for 12 hours. This is at the back of Sainsburys - from the P+R come down the New Dover Road into the city, turn right at the roundabout following the inner ring, 1st exit of the next roundabout, 2nd exit of the next, you will then see Sainsburys and can go in the coach park at the rear, not the Sainsburys car park. Non-UK motorhomes do seem to overnight in Sainsburys sometimes but it does have cameras and a limit on parking.

There's a bit of a lay-by behind Tesco, we were too late for the P&R but stayed on the lay-by behind Tesco. No probs and quiet.

I would look at their website but I doubt it is ever full
There are only 20 spaces in the reserved m/h area outside the height barrier & it can get pretty full. We stopped overnight on a Monday in mid-May last year & that night it was full by the time of last entry at 8.30pm.

Shh, don't tell anyone, but there is unofficial parking available next to the Dover Patrol Memorial at the end of Granville Rd, St Margarets at Cliffe. A few foreign vans turn up there from around 5 pm and stay the night.
Lovely views over the channel, and if you are feeling strenuous, there is a nice walk down to the beach and the Coastguard pub.
