What is this for? It seems to have a water connection on the front, a pressure gauge on the top, and a car tyre type valve.

no 100% but it could be an american version of a water pump surge damper.....stops the tap pulsing when the pumps running.....

english version.

I agree with John, although I know them as 'accumulators'.

Have you got a house water pump?

Maybee I'm going (gone?) daft but, some older American RV water systems used compressed air to pressurise the system, theory, fill with water the go to garage and pressurise, as said daft but.......?

I'm inclined to agree with Dodgey. Mine is a 73 Minni-Winne, and if you press the valve, water comes out, so I guess if you put a pump on it, you could pump air in. If so, how can I find out exactly what I should do with it?

I've just got the original water heater firing up, though not heating water yet, and would like to get the hot water system functioning properly.

Ok, so if it is a 'surge damper', how does it work and what do I do with the pressure valve and the hose fitting on the front?

if it is a damper, which as i said im not 100% sure, you charge the shreader valve to around the same pressure as your water pumps switching pressure.

my euro version is around 13psi i think

the water connection is a puzzle but it may be for an external water tap/hose/cold shower.....just an idea.

if it is a damper and you got water from the shreader valve then its buggered....the internal diaphrams split and allowing water into the air side of the diaphram.

i didnt realise it went that high but then, the americans like doing things big...::bigsmile:
just 'cos its showing up to 100psi doesnt mean it has to run at that pressure though.

it just seems logical if it has both air and water connections its a damper.

maybe a PM to Damondunc could help as he knows RV's inside out.:thumb:

Could it be to empty the water from the system when you lay the RV up? Just a thought.
