Been in France about 4 weeks or more now and have fallen in love with the Languedoc region and the black mountains....if you are touring don't skip through the area but rather take your time and explore even more - you will be very very pleased that you did I am sure

Had one for 5 years many moons ago. Now starting again.
Here's a link to a posting where I gave a link to an Independent article about the medieval villages of the region:

Went there last year to the wine festival in Banyuls (but not in the m/h) loved it. Just along the coast in Colliure you can visit the anchovy factory where they still fillet them by hand!

We are selling our house in the Languedoc in the Black Mountains to downsize nearby. Best wine best scenery and absolutely central for touring the whole of Europe.
PM me if anybody interested.

Yes !
We stayed on the small aire at Mont Louis, it's around 15min walk to the station at Mont Louis Cabanasse.
We took the journey to Villefranche-de -Conflent, apparently these are 'the best' stages... at around 2hrs each way, it's long enough for a family, personally I could've stayed all day :)
We chose Mont Louis figuring it was close to the start of the line and would therefore be quiet - despite its remote location it was very busy ( August). Open air carriage was good (could only get seats on return journey) but very exposed and hot, certainly needed sunscreen and water.

Very fond of the area. In 2000 we had a wonderful camping holiday at the municipal in Ile-sur-Tet. That was the last time both our 'children' came on summer holiday with us. We went back last year but decided against the municipal this time and being a bit stuck for ideas, consulted Camping Car Infos and ended up at an aire in Bélesta, a small village just to the north. It was a beautiful location and we spent a few relaxing days there. The aire is in the centre of this map shot but there are no vans on it in the image. You can make out the small hedges separating the pitches though.
