Santa Pod - that brings back memories. I used to go fairly often quite a few years ago. I remember way back in July 1979 seeing 'Slammin' Sammy Miller do the first UK 300mph+ (307mph in 4.2 seconds) run in his rocket car.

To put that in to perspective, a bog standard carb Honda Blackbird will do about a 10.6
Not too shabby for a bike built in 1996 !

Here is a youtube run, and the guy is using the SLOWEST bird ever built,,a digi dash post 2001 model..
They are 20mph down on top speed compared to the older carb ones..



And this is some shmuck trying to run an R6 agin a Bird..



Waste of petrol !! LOL !!

Brings back memories....met Julian (my husband) at Santa pod. He used to drag race his vw beetle. He won street car of the year for several years running.
He still reckons that he'll restore that beetle one day, it was his first car and he still has it. Almost a pile of rust!! Bless

Ahhh! Memories! I used to race at Santa Pod in the early 70's in a Junior Competition Altered - " Uncle Scrumble" - 1098cc of bored out Anglia engine and a best of 12.8 secs and 103 mph. Great fun but marriage and mortgages needed more money and attention!

i was there that day,i remember all the rubbish following in vanishing points wake.
if i remember, dave lee travis doing a late qualifier that weekend blew his rail dragster up,and put it up for sale the very next day?.
