image.jpeg This is a replacement tap in our hymer . The original one was replaced when we purchased it secondhand . Microswitch has now gone in this but tap needs identifying before we can source a microswitch or is it maybe cheaper to buy a replacement tap? Advice please.

Are micro switched not just micro switched (subject to amperage) why not see if the micro-switch itself can be removed and replaced ?

No one local able to do that without a potential big bill . I thought it was a quick cheap replacement but the name hymer just equals paying through the nose!

Is it looking like a Reichs tap ? That's at least narrowing search down a bit !

Are you sure that the tap is a 'microswitch' one? It looks more like a domestic standard type one..

Not sure what make of tap it is but you can buy replacement microswitches for Reich taps here:

Having had a blind leading the blind conversation with Mrs BB earlier today, (we both have similar model Hymers so have common interest) but also share a lack of ability to do it ourselves when it comes to fixing, the micro switch might be easy to swap but only when you have enough knowledge to even find it, let alone swap it, neither of us do o_O

A new tap might still be the quickest and overall easiest fix

But from what I have read since our phone call earlier, there is a good chance it is a broken wire inside the tap as much as a microswitch, so a new tap would definitely fix either problem, even if it does seem an expensive way round, at least it would be fixed (y)

or even as you have just suggested a domestic tap with no switch at all, not sure why that would suddenly stop working though?

Had kitchen tap refusing to work on a B614...after a bit of dismantling it turned out to be a wire to the micro switch becoming detached...made a better connection and all was ok.

You need to identify if it is a microswitch tap or just a standard domestic type tap first - the easiest way is to see if there are any wires coming out from the base of the tap under the worktop if you can see it. If not, try to identify the type of pump you have - is it one that's in the tank itself, or a separate one located in the pipework?

HURRAY!!! Thanks to all above. Your posts gave us confidence to break the hymer taboo. Tap unscrewed and as suggested microswitch still worked but fine wire lead to it had broken. SOS to brother ..... Gas powered solder and eureka ...... It works!!
Annual subs £15 ..... Invaluable for help alone. Without help from forum we faced a trip to Hambletons 220 miles or a return to Bad Waldsee .

Happy happy happy !

Peter Hambilton is very good and I would recommend him for any really significant repairs, but there is a non-franchised, yet very knowledgeable dealer much closer to you. Next time you need something fixed or supplied (and you don't fancy doing it yourself) try Edgehill Motorhomes at Mansfield Woodhouse (just north of Mansfield). Run by Paul and Lee Broadhurst - they specialise in imported Hymers. We bought ours from them and I have had a couple of jobs done since.

Both out of stock, evil bay one is listed as for your tap but description is not! Always doubt if wording incorrect so best to check.

Hi, also have a problem with our tap, without taking it apart which isn't easy as the screw is under the lever which is close to the worktop, will i have to remove the whole tap?
does anyone know which micro switch is correct out of these 2 https://www.leisureshopdirect.com/w...witch-for-reich-pelikantrend-and-keramik-taps or this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/17537109...d=link&campid=5338547443&toolid=20001&mkevt=1
both say for Reich Keramik, this is the tap View attachment 665527
Probably nothing wrong with the switch likely to be the wires to the switch broken. They get caught when you turn the leaver from hot to cold. Design not fit for purpose.
I got fed up with them failing and fitted a Shureflo pressure switched pump.

Still applicable thread though so I can't see a problem with resurrecting it.

One way to test if it's the microswitch. Turn on the kitchen tap. No water comes out, of course. Leaving the kitchen tap turned on, slightly turn on the bathroom tap. Ideally until the microswitch clicks, but it's only open a minimal amount so little or no water comes out. If the kitchen tap springs to life and starts spouting water, then it's definitely a microswitch problem. In a quiet environment you can hear the click of the microswitch, and maybe also the pump motor running.

How do I know? I had the problem on my last trip a few weeks ago. Spent a day travelling to a caravan shop on my scooter to get a microswitch, and taking the tap apart to fix it. On my latest trip, just tried it, it's not working. When I get back I'm definitely going to do what Lenny HB did, and install a pump with a pressure switch instead of a microswitch system.

I kept our submersible pump and just installed a Whale pressure switch and by passed the micro switches. Quick and easy once I got the parts.
