The aire here is full, and was very busy when we arrived at 4pm earlier, I am pleased to say that there are at least 4 Funster vans here, we unfortunately are heading home, the others are on the way to Italy, enjoy your trip guys, safe travels and plenty of sun, it's hissing down at the moment.
Cheers
Ed

Grande Fort Philip is the other side of the river and closer to the beach on the edge of the harbour Carpark by the fish shops. Gravelines is different place.

GFP had been closed down when we were there in October last year ...... I don't know if this is still the case but it seemed fairly permanent due to complaints by local residents.

How did you come to that conclusion, was there an official notice?

Was this the actual aire as in @Techno photo or the streets around about, because there are loads of signs there.

We went to GFP last October and there were signs saying no parking for Camping-cars. The white lines delineating the parking spaces had also been erased.
There were numerous small signs directing you to the nearby campsite.

That's pretty conclusive then, never used it personly ,good spot but the buses spoiled it for us, and all the signs roundabout made it look as if the locals weren't happy, never mind good old gravelines is still open, tell you better in a fortnight(y)(y)(y):)

We used to use GFP but now prefer Gravelines, easy to get to, plenty of space and the old town is great specially the Christmas markets.
A lot of motorhomes only use gravelines as a stopover for one night ready for ferry or tunnel , early morning, and never venture out but it's a good little town and only a very short walk to the centre, ordinary bars as well as more up market restaurants but you have to dig them out as they are not obvious, also a chip shop in the square where if you go , one portion is useualy enough for two.
Large market on Fridays, and for anyone who wants a reasonable good meal there is a restaurant over the other side of the marina towards lidl called cap compass or something like that where the owner cooks all the stuff on an open grill in the room.

Totally agree and the sculptures around the castle walls areas and the gallery are worth a visit.

We have been there by chance a couple of times when they have some sort of do on and been invited to take part , but we have always stood back as they were all in their best clothes and finery and us in our rough, great place, really is(y):)
