Can anyone explain the above plates to me and the apparent differences between the German (ALKO) plate on the right and the Fiat plate on the left. Thanks in anticipation.

Go by the AlKo plate on the right ;

4500Kg = Total allowed weight of m/h
6000Kg Total weight when towing (max wt of trailer = 1500Kg)
2100Kg Max front axle
2500Kg Max rear axle

You may well have a third plate somewhere which will be the by the converter and being the last should be the same gvw as in your V5C and supersedes the two in your photo.

Thank you both. The V5C says 4,250kg which is even more confusing, and as for a third plate I have not seen one and don't know where it may be.

That's a different matter .......... if you are registered at 4250Kg then I would say that is your current max weight although ig you get weight checked on the road they will probably go by the Al-Ko plate at 4500Kg so should not be a problem.
However the other smaller plate appears to show you may have been uprated by having air-ride suspension fitted.
If you are really concerned then I would suggest speaking to SV-Tech who will sort you out.

Thanks J&B. Do SV Tech need to see the vehicle coz that's a long drive?

We have exactly the same plates on our Chic C-line with the same numbers, apart from the vin.
Because we upgraded the weight we also have a separate Carthago plate showing the max at 4500kg.
That plate, just a sticky label really, was supplied with the registration papers and not attached to the vehicle when we picked it up from the dealer.
Be careful about weight checks as someone posted a couple of days ago that French police were doing weight checks and wanted to see the V5c to verify.

Hello Richard,

I have tried to upgrade so I guess ours is still at 4.25t as the V5c says. We don't travel heavy but we do travel with full tanks at times so I guess I had better visit a weighbridge. Just out of interest do you know the actual weight of your vehicle prior to loading?

Hello Richard,

I weighed our Chic on the way back from collecting her but we had been staying in her for a week so had some kit on board.
After a rough deduction for the weight of the bits and bobs I recon she weighed aprox. 3460kg.
I weighed her again as we left for this latest six week trip and with full water, gas, fuel and the garage and lockers pretty well full, plus the Memsahib the total was 4200kg. Still 300kg below the total limit although the rear axle was getting close.

Richard.
