since 2006 ( I think ! )
It is to put an HD tuner on.. roughly 6" sticking out by say 10" long
It will be mounted below the telly directly on to the bulkhead
I would like it to look neat and tidy ( otherwise I will get it in the neck ! )

Whilst I am pretty handy with things mechanical and electrical, wood and such like is little short of an anathema to me as the only thing I ever seem to make from it is a mess !!..

Soooooooo
What would the panel ( :) ) suggest I use to make such a shelf ?

I have had a look and all the 'normal' shelf options are just miles too big !

How about Perspex?
Thin and lightweight, can be purchased online, cut to size with polished edges.
Looks almost invisible in use

Fix to wall with the same brackets used for glass shelves

Not long enough, but a little common sense helps..........
Agree with above B&Q is best answer - they will even cut to size if you ask nice.

How heavy is the HD tuner? If it isn't very could you stick it to the wall with Velcro? This would avoid the need for a shelf. Alternatively, if there is a wardrobe behind the telly stick the tuner in there, again secured with the sticky stuff.

Number 8 on the above link John

What the big box thing ?
The next one would be perfect though, if it was not £70 and was half the length :)

The bulkhead in question is the one linking hab to cab DBK.. It is not very long and has a cloth covering over half of it.
The issue with the unit being flat up agin the wall is that it will not 'see' the remote control :(
It would certainly be light enough for a velcro attachment mind you !

Are you wanting to leave it there permanently or remove it when you travel?

At the risk of upsetting quite a few, may I enquire as to what a "girlie" is doing posting on a thread about shelf fitting?

More than toes wet now!
Rather than buying \ constructing a shelf could you glue (Araldite or similar) keyhole mounting brackets to the rear of the unit, put appropriate screws into the wall and hang the unit on them? Suppose it depends on the weight of the unit \ strength of the wall.
Just a thought.
Nothing visible but the unit itself.
