hi. we have been in Morocco for one week and are having a fantastic time! at the border we purchased our van green card - 'assurance frontiere' - for one month, however we would now like to stay for three! can anyone advise on the where-a-bouts of 'bureau d'assurances' in Marrakech or other major towns where we could purchase the two additional months? otherwise we will have to travel back up to Tangier Med to get it... many thanks, WaspOnWheels.

You can buy at the border but I have a feeling that once you buy 1 month you cannot extend even by tramping back up to Tangier. Dont forget Moroccan insurance is not what you would expect insurance to be in the UK. Its only third party.

go home and before you go again get proper insurance cover, is it really worth the risk?

Hello Welcome to Motorhome Fun, hopefully you can extend your cover as Makems suggests, but for another year worth getting it when you renew your insurance does not cost a lot and saves a lot of hassle, also when you have time, it could well be worth putting Morocco 2014 /. 15. /. 16. Into the search at the top so much information in those threads.

It would also be worth becoming a full member £15 a year, will give you unlimited use of the forum were as you only have 5 free posts as a read only member and unable to ask questions.

If you have not been to Morocoo before an amazing country to travel we have had a wonderful time exploring it, but it feels so much better knowing you have fellow funsters to talk and meet up with. Don't forget over the next few months it will be getting quite hot there and 3 months May / June / July could be a bit on the hot side.
Good Luck and Happy Travels :pink:

About 3 years ago a couple f our members found a place in Agadir to extend the insurance but i think the agent tried to overcharge them so they didnt bother. @Kiwi Coss @bryandh ?

@makems, quite right Mike. The Agadir agent wanted €3000 dirham to extend our insurance for a further period, so together with @Kiwi Coss we cut and ran back to Spain and home. Would recommend that anybody unable to arrange insurance cover before arrival in Morocco, should buy the maximum period available at Tanger Med. As stated before, level of cover provided at the port is minimal, better to do it at home.

Enjoy your time in Morocco.
