Have decided that I want a German van...Thinking of buying in Germany to save money.

So as the title - is there much difference?

We spent most of last Autumn trying to chose between them.....then chose a Dethleffs!!

A lot will depend on what you want and which one meets those needs the best....

Not all Hymers or Burstners are the same but it is unlikely that any of them will disappoint...

We recently bought our Hymer from Becks of Martham who also sell new Burstner vans. The salesman said that they considered Hymer to be the better quality.
We didnt even consider Burstner as the Hymer ticked the boxes for us and definately no regrets.

The answer has to be the one which most closely matches the essentials and desirables on your list.
We are very happy with our Burstner.
Burstner are part of the Hymer group.

We imported our Hymer Exsis i698 last June reckon we saved around £15 to £20000 so well worth buying in Germany, and of course you will get a great van.

I'm not sure if it's so straight forward as each brand has different ranges, with very different levels of quality.

For example a Burstner Elegance is very different to say a Burstner Nexxo...

Personally, if funds allowed, I'd choose Carthago (y)

PUAL hymers excellent wood free building system and lightness of construction..... Flasher vans around but they are just eye candy IMO. Import and save bundles.:)

The internal walls are all plywood as far as I know.

How did you establish where to buy in Germany? Was there a lot a paperwork in respect of importing it?

We went to Germany to buy a Hymer and bought a Knaus. Far better quality unless you are going for an star model. If you are thinking of the star then get a cathago

Most if not all of the main brands of the Hymer group use the same or very similar ' wood free system'....

Our previous Motorhome was a Hymer A Class - brilliant for what we needed at the time.
Now we have a Burstner IT 590 and it seems to suit us for now and hopefully for the next few years.
We chose this one so that we can have a small Motorhome base and tow our BMW GS Adventure for exploring when we want to stop for a few days!

If i buy another van it will be one that ticks 99% of my boxes my current Burstner comes close but would love a island bed and bigger payload. I have looked at countless vans that look awesome but as soon as you open door on most the wife and I dont evan step in.
