hi all
have just returned from a trip around france and on arriving in Bayeux found that the aires from the vicarious aires book is now closed but the tourist office told us of two other places-
1 Musee Memorial De la Battalion De Normandy
2 car park on Rue Dierre Trebucien
Hope this helps anyone wishing to spend the night there

hi roy
We were told this is now permanently closed and replaced by those I listed this is borne out by the fact that the town map we were given clearly shows this

Since 1993, on and off.
Thanks for the heads up. Heading there in a few weeks and that was one of my destinations. Are the alternative sites far?

I found them on a map, I am thinking the larger one would be most suitable. Can you park in the old aire for parking purposes or have they closed it off completely?

Nice free aire at cerisy la foret , by an Abbey with nice small lake, & over a hundred sculptures only about 10 miles from Bayeux

havent been able to find the map given to us ,but yes you can park where the old aires was or theres another car park just opposite (both pay &display) from where you can simply walk straight down the main street to the centre where you can find for instance the museum where the tapestry is kept(well worth a visit)

Thanks for the info. We have been to Bayeux a few times and always used the central Aire. I am returning at the end of April with my Dad and Brother to do some WW2 tours and hoped to use Bayeux as a base for a couple of days for the tour guide to collect us from but the alternative sites are fine too, just lucky you posted the original info as I would have been a bit 'ruffled' had I just turned up and found it closed.

Cut and paste addresses into Google Maps to check location. Note: Item 2 should read Rue Pierre Trebucien
