we bought our van in November and have been away for a night or two on four occasions now. However, we have not managed a single night with the heating working properly. It is still under warranty and has been back to dealer twice. Feeling very fed up!

Just been to Brighton and took a plug in heater in case we needed it - we did. The heating goes on, runs for a few minutes, clicks, you hear a surge of power, clicks again and goes off eith red fault light coming on. This morning it worked for about 40 minutes before the srge of power and cutting out.

The gas bottle is new, there is water in the system and the gas cooker etc is all working. The regulator is new, there is supposedly a new pc board and something else replaced which i cant remember name of - something that dealer said burnt out cos used with no water. (the last time they fixed it they did not connect water back and it leaked all over van). What else could it possibly be?

It is kept in storage so we can only try it when we book to go away. We had planned to go to Scotland for a couple of weeks at Easter but this is not looking possible without assured heating. The warranty runs out mid April.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Or know of a mobile engineer who could come to Gatwick storage or a workshop near to Gatwick? Although we can contact the dealer again I just have little faith. They have been very pleasant but at the end of the day it is still not fixed!

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with the heating in your van.
Could you advise what van you have and what heating system is fitted?

Is this issue evident on gas or electric or both ?

Have you been on the Truma website. Quite a few video links to show you how to work it. When it's on gas setting it does take a few minutes to kick in, then it's like a hot jet engine blast till it's too bloody hot ........:)

Ours has worked for between 1 and 40 minutes. Sometimes it clicks off after a minute otpr two, we switch it back on, clicks off again, switch on and might work for 10 minutes or might not. When it has worked for longer than a minute or two, it is very effective. On two occasions it seemed to get up tomtemperature and the thermostat switch kicked in wnd switched it off without the fault light coming on. We were very impressed but would like this to be the norm not the unusual.

Assume you mean a truma blown air system. One of two things could be happening (both happened on our last van). Firstly (and most expensively) you may need a new pcb in the truma heater. Secondly the outside of the heater may getting too hot and tripping the safety switch. This can happen if your heater is in an enclosed area with no ventilation, or if one of the blower tubes has come out or is leaking (latter in my case).

If your dealer is a Truma agent they should be able to interrogate the system and get a fault code reading. If they aren't or can't then insist they take it to a Truma specialist

The boiler is under the bed so is an enclosed space but this is a common place for the boiler to be. My husband is going to contact Truma in the morning and the dealer so we can ask about getting a fault code reading. Not sure if they are Truma agents.
